2005 Tps Value

I have a 2005 5.3L Silverado 4 x 4 auto with horrible gas mileage - power is not that great either. I put my scan tool on the truck last week and drove around while observing some of the readings. The first thing I noticed that appears to be abnormal (to me) is the closed throttle TPS reading is not 0% - it is between (yes - it varies) 12% and 25%. The % calc load reading at idle is around 30% and goes above 90% with light acceleration. Cruising at 60 mph gives me a % calc load of around 50%. Are the values normal? Thanks.

Well here are my numbers, tps idle-0to.7%, calc. load idle-1to3%, 60 mph load-17%, light acceleration-35to65%. So your numbers look high to me.

Check engine light should be blazing with those numbers ....

Throttle angle above 12% can easily be caused by something as simple as throttle body carbon.

That's a 12 to 15 mpg vehicle on a good day with a light throttle and a tailwind.

Does this vehicle have Throttle Actuated Control. if so then i would say it is normal because the throttle plate is controling your idle. if it uses a throttle cable then the Idle Air Control solenoid to keep your vehicle at idle, and the throttle plate can be fully closed.

Yes it does have fly by wire throttle control.
