If it's just mud residue then spending time with a high pressure hot water wand will fix it, and I'm pretty sure that's all you need. The frame you can see under the cab should be fixed by just high pressure hot water too if its muddy/rusty colored, it's just going to take time.

 

If you have to paint it, just wheel well/underbody paint from auto-zone etc. Some people have used bedliner spray. You'd want to sand it down a bit and spray it, but it's going to be uneven looking unless you do the whole thing, everything you can see, which means taping off the truck to avoid overspray, etc.

 

I like these wheel well covers/protectors, especially if you're going to do a BL in the future. Then you don't need gap guards. These things are big, black rigid plastic. They cover everything under there including the frame.

looks awesome. wat offset are those wheels? also, have you noticed a much of a difference in your mpgs or power? im lookin to get the same size tires..

+ 18 offset. MPG's are down a little bit, but I haven't went on a long ride yet. Yeah I can tell my truck takes longer to shift, If im heavy on the throttle. But can't wait for my BB tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These tires look real aggressive, I'm glad I went this set-up!

 

& Guys gonna try to get some more & bigger pics. Just wait for it.

I went to the local GM dealership (Ramey's) & they said they would clean my frame & spray it with Gloss black all together for $50. You guys think that is a good idea?

I may have to drive to your area. I asked for a quote on doing that and they wanted almost $800. I think it is a really good idea.

Well come on down man! This guy beside him said $400 at first, I was like OMG, I can do this myself. But then he said hes only kidding. He said $50 & I was thinking wow, thats a damn good deal, imo.

I just gotta drop it off Monday morning & comeback 4-5 hours later.

After my mountain bike ride this afternoon I came out of the trail head and a silverado was parked next to me... he had 275/55/20 Zeon LTZ's on his truck. Man, i haven't seen a set of these in person in a while and totally forgot how aggressive they look.

Pictures DO NOT do this tire justice! Only reason I knew he had 275s was because I went up and looked at the sidewall, i could've sworn they were bigger than stock tires.. :D

Looks good, any rubbing while flexing? It looks like your very close to the inner wheel well.

 

 

I did at 1st, but had to take the splash guards off on the front. Now it doesn't rub at all.

hey man... i ended up going with the coopers again. so give me a few weeks and you'll see what your setup will look like with a body lift. :sigh:

 

 

how did the 305/50/20s affect your gas mileage? im hoping to recoup some back since my wife will be using my truck once work starts back up, and she'll be doing about 70 miles a day (until my son gets into daycare). I need to give her jeep a tune up... those hemi's are notorious for diving in mpg when the copper plugs near the end of their life.

It did affect it some, I lost about 2-3 mpg. But my BB Tune is on its way, so hopefully I will get that back!

Are you still sticking to the 3" or are you gonna go to the 1.5" Body Lift?

Nice choices it really looks good. I wish I went with the black and machined wheels when I did mine. I have the Helo 835 in 20x9. I also have the Cooper Zeon LTZ. I have had them for 1 year and about 5 months so far. I have about 15k on them. I have no complaints. I have used this truck once every 3 weeks to haul my track car all over the place and they have performed well. They ride great and they do make a little noise but nothing major. If you swap out your exhaust ever you will never even notice it. I was pleased with the snow/rain and off road performance of this tire. Previously I ran BFG AT's on many trucks and had great luck with them. I wanted something more affordable for the 20" wheels and this tire has been flawless for a better price. Best of luck with them..and I think you made a wise choice with the 305/50. I have the 275/55 and I wish it was wider but there is no way I could run the 305/55 it would never fit.

    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
