Gmt-900 Mirror Cap Removal

I want to paint my mirror caps. I am sure they just pry off but I wanted to ask before I went and did something I would not be happy about. At some point I would like to do my tail gate bezel and handle too. I may as well ask now how to get them off.

I don't know if there's any difference in the 07 and 2010 mirror caps, but here's how to remove the caps from the 2010 mirrors. Another member here PM'd me the directions when I asked him about it.

 

As I mentioned in my post, the install took less than 5 minutes. The drivers side was first (took 4 mins), I actually broke 1 clip only because I had no idea where they were or what to expect. The passenger side nothing was broken and I popped it right off (30 sec). Start on the top corner of the mirror cap away from the truck, slide a screwdriver in the slot and gently apply pressure until it comes loose (there are no clips on the top and you can't break anything). Follow this pattern of using the screwdriver to pry sections free all the way around

just pull them w/ your fingers. dont use any tools. start in the corner

This is what I was afraid of. Thanks for the tips guys. This weekend, I will see about getting them painted if I have time.
