I just bought a 2010 silverado 3 months ago with the lt z71 package, rear power sliding window, power pedals, backup sensors and color match front bumpers and grill along with leather seats. I ended up paying around 35000.00 for it after rebate. So after I tried to update the door panels to the ltz style with no luck unless I wanted to change out the whole damn harness to make it work I decided to look into purchasing a new truck.

So I ended up finding a 2010 Sierra SLT Extended cab with 20" wheels, rear power sliding window, heated and full power driver and passenger seats, Bose system, better looking dash, TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER (since it cant be added after you buy one without) and the power pedals and backup sensors. Dealer offered me 28500 for my truck with just over 8000 miles on the clock. So the difference between the 2 is $6646.00 Would you guys go for it or what?

Well, I kinda look at it this way. I'm never gonna be happy with it unless I get exactly what I want and should have got in the beginning. 2) I was probably gonna be looking at around 500-1000 just to change the door panels out after all was said and done. DL3 mirrors would be a reality now without cobbling everything. Heated seats addon 399.00 plus I have power everything. And my payment is only going up 64.00 from the other truck.

I did the same thing I bought a 2010 extd cab and after 3000 miles I went back and traded for a crew cab and I am happy I did. I say go for it if you dont mind to take a hit.

$6,000 is quite a bit of change but your financial situation probably is different from mine. I bought a single cab and wish like hell I would have went ahead and at least bought an extended cab. I really want a heavy duty 2500 but thats life sometimes.

I would want to find out if the APR is a better rate than what you are currently paying to help soak up the extra $6k, but you are not going to soak up a lot of it. You still are $6k upside down on your current truck. Bottom line, if you can afford the extra money per month, do it. Another question for you, is the GMC a brand new truck like your Silvy? If you were really serious about the GMC purchase, try and haggle with the dealer, ESPECIALLY if it's a new truck. If that particular dealer doesn't want to work with you, go to the next GMC dealer and tell them you know of a truck on the other dealers lot that you were interested in. They usually want to win your business and will usually make you a better offer than the other dealer. The new trucks have an incredible mark up on them. I bought my 08 in December of 08. They really wanted to get rid of trucks, so they paid off my other truck, which i was upside down on, and gave me $10k off the price of the new truck. I couldn't pass up the deal!

I would have to agree with the majority and say that is a lot of money just to get different door panels.

Also, if I am doing the math right, you would actually be out over $13,000 to do the switch. You bought the current truck for $35,000. The dealer is going to give you $28,500 for trade in. That transaction alone will cost you about $6500 due to the trade-in difference. Then, when you add the $6646 that you have to pay to get into the new GMC SLT, you will actually be taking a dollar hit of $13,146 ($6500+$6646) for some new door panels and the Trailer Brake Controller.

You bought a new truck for $35,000 drove it for 3 months and 8,000 miles. Thats a really expensive lease you have there. I think you could of got a fully-loaded Benz for less than $2,000 a month.

Now you want to buy another truck for $35,000 and pay the taxes on the $6,600 difference. When its all said and done you will prolly lose way over $10,000. Atleast get a different truck or Esky.

Most people seem to be missing the whole picture. Not all of the $6000 is loss on the currant truck. He is step up in model, which is more money as well. Most likely at least $3000 worth.

I say if it wil make you happy go for it. As long as you have the money to spend. I got the one I wanted right off the bat. Or else I would be doing the same thing.

Plus I did drop 2.1% off the interest rate as well with getting the new truck.
