Seat Swap 98 To Something Newer?

I'm trying to help my step dad fix his seat on his 98 Tahoe. The leather is old, torn, and dieing. I looked at the salvage yard and all the seats are crap, and exposed to the weather. Does a newer seat, say out of a 03 fit? Will it bolt up? Does anyone have experience with repair or replacement? I want to stop him from putting gray tape on it. Thanks

Went through this after buying a '97 C1500. This was a straight & clean used truck but was a W/T with a bench seat that had seen better days. I bought an after market bolt-in direct replacement from a van conversion parts dealer near Elkhart, IN. This assembly was basically 2 high-back buckets with a center jump seat/arm rest combo mounted on a steel frame that bolted to the factory anchors in the floor. This dealer had a pole barn full of seats, some were factory GM take-outs from van conversion shops. Try searching ebay where I found this source.
