I Hate Mice

hey, so last week i split some dog food in the garage and i forgot to clean it up. two days ago dad parked his 1999 ford f250 superduty in the garage. today he left for town and his clutch wouldn't engage. if you haven't guessed it the mice took about 3 cups of dry dog food and stashed it in his bell housing. we have no clue how they got it in there. he managed to wash it out and got it to work. good thing to cause im going mouse hunting tomorrow.

a mouse also got in my cabin a couple months ago, it crapped everywhere, in the utensals, bedding, spent two days cleaning and sealed the hole that i thought they got in. dad went to weeks ago and found mice again every where. we had the cabin for three years and never mice we did though add a water shed to the cabin. :uhoh:

did you guys have mice or other rodents spoil anything of yours

get a cat or 2.

no more mice...

but i'll tell you an interesting story..

back in 1976 my father bought some AR-9 (Acoustic Research) Tower speakers for the family room..

these things were 5'5" tall 2 12" subs at the bottom and a series of mids and tweeters up the front.

they came in big boxes to match, and back then there was no styrophone packing, the boxes were packed with pressed cardboard to secure the product..

so picture a nearly 6 foot tall by 4 foot wide box, dad broke down the second box and put all the packing into the first as well as the box, and stored them in the attic of the garage in case he had to take them back to the store..

they were forgotten about, and remained up there until dad died in 2001, in 2003 I was forced to knock down his garage because it was infested with mice, they had made a nest of that pressed cardboard, and when we pulled it out there was an amazing series of tunnels they had chewed through that box.

we have lots of cats way to many but dad doesn;t like them in the garage because they crawl over the trucks and scratch them up ( Kinda ironic when you think about it )

i usually leave my truck outside (my space is blocked by my old exhaust piping ) and the cats play in the box or in the frame and wheels so my truck is pretty much mice proof haha

Moe_Fugga - that sucks could you at least get new foam or did you have to buy a new helmet

old-chevy-dude -- ouch that sucks sounded like it was a pain in the ass and sorry to hear about your dad

best way to catch them...

Empty 5 gal pail, a board / ramp up into it , and throw some bait / food inside. Once they fall in, they cant get out :uhoh: Dispose of as you wish.

Sucks to hear that

Mice filled up a buddies sport bike exhaust with dogfood and when it started and ran for the short time it baked into a rock. I know he bought a new can, idk about the headers.

I like D-con. Kills them off fast. They might sink a little but it passes when they dry up.

i opened the garage door to let all the cats in to catch some mice but that didn't last long dad shut the door with ten minutes

dad made something like 06z71silvy's idea but he fills it up with used tractor oil. he uses it in all of the machine sheds. i works good.

i was out locating a pipeline over the summer and i was in a field and there is field mice running around all day. this one kept running around my boots so i swung down and chopped it in half with the hatchet i use to put lath in the ground to mark the pipe. That made my day

I don't have a mouse problem. I just close the garage doors and let the german shepard go to town, he spooks them out and i get them with my buddy. Here's my buddie!

last year i was outside working on my truck, and my dad started up the john deere mower and it backfired and sputtered and some other weird noises and i ran over and smelled a crispy, burnt something smell which actually smelled pretty good, and my dad said mouse parts came shooting out of the exhaust.

that bucket things a really good idea, never would of thought of that

Best way to catch them on a trap isn't with cheese... Those little dudes LOVE some sunflower seeds.

Today I pulled the snowblower out of the tool shed to prep it for winter and once I brought it out of the shed, 2 mice jumped out and ran away. As I was crossing the back yard, another one jumps out, so I figured that must be it, so I brought it around to the driveway figuring all of them were gone. WRONG! One runs out and takes off into the garage! Took me a half hour to get the little bugger out of there. On the plus side I did get the garage cleaned in the process.

Metal coffee can works too. Just cut a 1" diameter hold in the center of the lid and drop an apple core/peanut butter/whatever in there.
