What A Beast!

So I've been pondering a 2011 SD and found out that you can get a SLT 6.2l with 3.73's. So I decided to go try both the Denali and 6.2 SLT one after the other. The Denali was impressive, but really didn't feel much till the power band kicked in about 3k RPM. So then tried the 6.2 SLT, F*** did she go :uhoh: . Totaly a new beast compared to the Denali (and my 5.3 of course). Passing was amazing, and did she every put you in your seat off the line. Smoked a Hemi while on the test drive, no prob. there was no comparison to the Denali (IMO). Only prob now is how much they will let me get it for, and have to start the mods alll over again...lol

I've been dying to get a drive in one but our local dealer cannot keep anything with the 6.2 in stock. I did hear an interesting figure the other day, I'm not sure if it's true or not but who cares? I heard that our local Chevy dealership sells more standard cab, shortbed trucks every month than Toyota sells all cab configs combined! Interesting little tid bit for yall :uhoh:

Had mine for about 6 months now. They are a blast to drive. Most people at the light are not expecting a big 'ole 4x4 to blow there doors off. I chuckle everytime.

Road and track or one of those mags tested the 6.2l trucks. The 4x4 silverado ran the 1/4 in 15 sec flat. Pretty impressive for a truck let alone a 4x4.

Not really, considering a tuned Duramax 2500 4x4 blew the doors off of a 2010 Camaro SS. I think that was about when the 2010 Camaro first came out.

I hate these threads. They are REALLY tempting me to trade my 2010 LT for a 2011 6.2L with the all star package... and ONSTAR app that works :-D Good thing I got a good enough deal on the 2010 I can trade it whenever it really bothers me.

What kind of MPG difference is there in the 6.2L from a 5.3 6sp 3.08? I have always said the Escalade and Yukon 6.2s are SERIOUS and they needed to put them in the trucks. Guess I opened my mouth too soon lol.

I get about the same mileage (or better) with my 6.2L/6 speed/3.08 as I did with my 5.3l/4speed/4.10.

Well, wife helped in the decision making yesturday. She ran the side of the truck on a concrete post. good thing uncle does body work and it'll be in the shop this week.

A new 6.2 SLT with 3.93's new is going to set me back $42K + tax (Cdn) there are a few 2010's with 9000 Km's (not miles) that I can get for the same price. Like i said b4, the 3.93 kicked ass on the denali. But the Denali has way more options on it.

Oh, then a buddy'd friend has a 2010 Ram 1500 sport with absolutley everything and 3.93's and I can get that for $37K and no tax. Anyone drive one of these? They were truck of the year.

I have the 6.2 with 3.73's gears and it's amazing. I'm getting no worse mileage than i did with my Vmax and 4.10's

Huge power difference between the 2.

I love my 6.2L. It is quite the beast.

And..Steven...I love that new 2011 Storm Gray you got there. Absolutely a sweet setup with that Denali grill

Its great to finally have a convert... I was getting tired of you 6.0/4L70 guys saying the 6.2/6L80 isn't a big deal. :D

I'll eat my words a little. :P The 6.0 with 4.10's ran good especially tuned, and still think I would have given you a run for your money (might of lost but) :lol:BUT..... The 6.2 with 3.73's and the 6-speed would have RAN all over my previous truck. And I'll admit it... I'm loving the 6-speed :P

The 6-speed is better, and it is a big deal for those nah-sayers :D

On the bright side... this site now has one less "nah-sayer"

I can't wait to test drive your truck with 3.73s. That might push me over the edge and make me tune my truck

So we have the cheerleaders vs the nay-sayers  I think the truth is somewhere in-between... and the devil is in the details. No doubt about a 6.2/6-spd w/ a 3.73 or 3.42 rear. Not so sure about the 5.3/3.08 combo vs the equivalent (previous) 4-spd/3.42 option. The 5.3/3.73/4-spd (or 4.10) vs the 5.3/3.42/6-spd is pretty close overall (to me), with the nod to the 6-spd for performance and towing.
