Daylights

you know those two lights that stay on durring the day, well i was wondering if one of them is souposed to be out or if they should both be on? i pass by many chevys and Gmcs as im driving and like at least 80% of them only have 1 of the day lights on. i also think my truck makes up part of the 80% cause i know for sure only 1 of my day lights stay on?? is it just that these lights burn out alot, or is it really that only 1 stays on?

I noticed the same thing. so, when I bought my '05 Suburban, I made sure to buy a couple extra of those bulbs to replace since I just knew they would burn out fast. Well, it's been five years, and they haven't burned out yet. Those bulbs are still sitting in my glove box, just waiting for the day. I did have a regular headlight burn out though, but it's not the same bulb.

They are both supposed to be on. I think you see a lot of them burned out because they are hard to check. You can't tell if they work in the daylight when they are on like you would at night.

The DRL's or Daytime running lights should both be on and should be replaced with long lasting bulbs, many people don't do this and they burn out fast, to check em, turn on the ignition not starting the engine and move the selector to drive or reverse, but do not push down the e-brake, instead put something behind the tire to keep said vehicle from rolling.

Funny thing is that if you pay attention you will notice that the drivers side is the one that is burnt out most of the time!

or you can just look at your trucks reflection on the back of the car in front of you. I do this all the time to make sure that my parking lights and turn signals aren't burnt out.

i know ones out i just dont know which one and for what reason though?

I have no idea other than time causing the bulb to burn out. I have an '04 Tahoe and have had my drivers headlight go out but never a DRL.

I've noticed that as well. I'm almost kind of surprised when I see a GM truck or SUV with both DRL's on

I've noticed that as well. I'm almost kind of surprised when I see a GM truck or SUV with both DRL's on

I have noticed trucks up here in Ontario w/ a burned out DRL lamp. But those seem to be in the minority. Canucks may replace them as they burn out since a lot of our driving is in inclement weather.
