I am getting a dyno black bear tune, we want to do a before an after with exhast, intake and tune. The problem is, im trying to find exhaust for my 6.2 sierra and cant seem to find any. Any suggestions for intake and exhaust? I want to buy it today or tomorrow.

I have an Airraid for my CAI and as far as the exhaust i saved myself the 800 bucks and just removed the resonator for a little deeper growl. The exhuast on our 6.2s already sound and flow very well.

Please excuse my ignorance, where is the resonator and how do you take it out?

Thanks

All the way back, near the exit. :( You cut it out and either replace with a piece of pipe or just cut the tail pipe off.

2011 GMC Sierra 1500

Quad Cab - Storm Grey - Ugly 20" rims - 6.2 liter - 6 speed - 3.43 gears ( I will never get these again!) - Magnaflow Exhaust - K&N Intake - Black Bear Tune - Leveling Kit

Edit: Never mind, I figured it out.

bump for a better answer to this question! I called magnaflow and they said that they would be releasing their catback systems for our 6.2s in about 30 days or so.

Also, does anyone know if there are headers out that fits this engine yet? Maybe something designed for a different vehicle that uses this engine?

I know I dont have the new 6.2 2011 model, but it seems it usually takes awhile before they come out with anything good, cause once the first exhaust kit comes, everyone gets it and has the same sound, but there are some custom shops that will actually fab you one or even build a concept for your truck to produce in the real world

well the stock exhaust is 3.5''. So I cant see any aftermarket companies being able to make anything that truly has power gains. From the people I have talked to at Corsa, they don't deny that there is no real performance gains, only sound.

With that in mind, I don't know anything about long tubes yet for the 6.2 that will work on the 2011 trucks.

For the money wanted for a catback from corsa, magnaflow, or any of the others its just not worth it. I say find a muffler you like, go to an exhaust shop and have them weld it in for you.

Don't waste time on the intake, there aren't any usable gains there beyond noise and near-useless top end HP gains. Exhaust on the 6.2 is already 3.5" which is bigger than most of the aftermarkets. You'll gain sound but nothing else. If you still want one, Corsa (or dB Exhaust) is the one to go with- great sound on throttle, dead quiet cruising. And shorty headers are a waste on LS engines, the stock manifolds will flow just fine. Longtubes are a different story.

So Justin from Blackbear tuned my truck for me yesterday, so of course i bombarded him with questions lol anyways he told me that American Racing makes headers for our trucks! I called them and sure enough, here they are:

Now IDK who has money for headers like that, but I plan to wait for a cheaper alternative. Also while Justin was making his data logs he told me that my truck would benefit from an intake, claiming a 5% increase in efficiency. Just thought I would share my findings! As for exhaust, the guys at Gibson make kits for our 6.2s but are currently marketing it as 2wd compatible. The dude there told me that their kits should fit the 4wd trucks, but they just havent had one to test fit on.

dB has a 6.2 kit but it's 3" pipe I think so you lose pipe diameter. Plus for some reason I really like the single exhaust out the back that you already got. :P

What does it sound like without the resinator??? I thought about taking mine off but don't want it to have that raspy rattle sound, just a nice deep tone.

Dynatech makes a long tube header with highflow cats. I have them on my '11 Max. They look clean and haven't had any problems yet. From the cats back is a question that I am asking as well. As already posted the truck comes with 3.5" so it flows well already. I think the only gain you will get is the sound out the back. The thing you need to watch is how does the truck sound under load on the highway.

If your going with a cold air intake the I'm of the opinion the only ones that help have a lid on them to keep out engine compartment heat and a scoop to force more air at the filter. Volant has the only kit that I know of that has all that. Banks makes a kit but they don't have a scoop for the 1500's that I know of.
