Am I correct in saying that no Vortec engine had AFM pre 2007??

Yep...don't quote me but pretty sure...you are 100% true there. It wasn't available on the GMT-800 platform and started with the GMT-900.

That would be correct for trucks only. GM started using AFM earlier on some cars. For example, a 2006 model Impala SS with a 5.3 V8 had the AFM system.

Nope,The 5.3 (RPO code LH6) in the Trailblazer/Envoy/Ranier's had AFM starting in '05,It was called displacement on demand or "DOD"

Earlier year 5.3's (RPO code LM4) in '03-'04 did not have DOD,This is also the same 5.3 that was in the SSR's for '03-'04.

Thanks for the clarification. So any Sierra 1500 prior to 07 will not have AFM?

Didn't the Northstar engines have that DOD or something similar?

Correct,No pickup truck prior to the '07 GMT900's had AFM/DOD,Just some of the mid-size SUV's.

Just to clarify, Silverados & Sierras did come with AFM in 2006. They were sold as GMT-900 2007 model year trucks.

Yeah,I said that already

Thats something I really liked about my 2006 Silverado LT. The 5.3l engine had no AFM, that was great. Fulltime V8 is great.
