06 Wiper Nozzles Freezing

I hate winter! My 06 has the washer nozzles on the wipers and they freeze all the time! Does anyone have a good solution for this?

mine freezes in the lines that are on the wipers . The tanks is fine but not the lines with the wipers .... i think i have winter washer fluid in there .....

My 07 new body style freezes too. Never had the heated washer bottle though. I do know people who in the past had taken a length of tubing from the output of the pump and looped it around the upper radiator hose several times and made their own heated water for the window.

Winter windshield washing fluid. Rain X has an "all season" type. I would think others do too. Same as anti freeze.

The Wal-Marts around here sell -25F, -35F windshield washer fluid. I don't know what they sell around you. Some of that cheap, generic blue stuff has NO freeze protection at all. I kid you not.

i like that radiator hose idea. i wonder if that would get it warm enough though

Ya guys ever heard of -45 washer fluid? I too have had the summer stuff freeze in the nozzles when it gets cold, I just try to rememeber to run it all out and then put the anti-freeze washer fluid in before its too late, never have a problem with that stuff.

On my new truck a few days ago when the temps dropped just below the freezing point the lines had froze up. Dumped -45* fluid into the tank & now it's good. -12*C today & washer fluid squirted fine.

 

I'm thinking the fluid in your tank is less than optimum for the temps you're seeing.

It is the nozzles that are freezing over. It has happened since I first bought the truck in 06. If I can get the ice off of the nozzles on the wiper, than it sprays just fine. I thought maybe someone had a trick to prevent this. It is just a bad design as the nozzles freeze very easy being under the wiper arm. I have lived in IL my whole life, so yes, almost all our wiper fluid is -25 or better.

Never thought of the nozzles freezing over maybe that is what is happening to mine . My truck gets coated in ice all the time and the heat on defrost will fix the window up fine but i guess the nozzle holes would never really get unplug ...

My theory:

You're driving around in cold weather; you're washer reservoir (being under the hood) warms up slightly, subsequently expanding the fluid. You park the vehicle. That night it rains / snows, ambient temp drops below freezing. Fluid in reservoir cools and slightly contracts, "sucking in" a tiny amount of moisture through the nozzles (all it takes is a drop). Said water freezes.

My solution is when I park at night, and it's snowing, I give the windshield a quick squirt to purge nozzles of any water.

(If that doesn't work, I'm out there in the snow with my gloves off grasping the nozzles till they melt!)

Im having my passenger side sprayer not working, not sure if its frozen though because \I have had the truck inside at work to thaw out a couple times. Not even sure exactly where the sprayer is on the nbs sierra, somewhere on the wiper itself it looks like, is it the two small boxes im guessing?

I have had mine in a low heated garage overnight, and still have one frozen. I took it to the car wash the next day, and problem solved! I needed to get the salt off anyway. Just a crappy design from what I can tell. On my 06, the nozzle is in the small black box in the wiper arm. My old 99 Voyager van with the nozzles on the hood never freeze over, and if they do, a couple squirts and they will open up!
