The Final Car Wash

Sold the Duramax for $3000 more than I paid for her so I am quite happy with that. The auto transport company will be comming by to pick her up tomorrow or Tuesday. Took her to the carwash yesterday and got her cleaned up (had lots of dog hair in there from my Lab/Golden mix) When drying her off she seemed to look even more beautiful than the day i got her. (A testiment to a good hand wax job this past summer) There were a few other truck owners and car owners in the dry off section as well, had 2 of them pay me a compliment on how nice of a truck it was and how sharp it looked. Always nice to get that kind of feedback from fellow truck owners. (One was a Chevy, the other was a Dodge) There was a guy parked next to me who had a 2004-2009 ish Ford F-250 King Ranch Power Stroke, he seemed a bit bothered that no one paid him any compliments on his truck  Noticed him staring at me as I pulled away gracefully from the carwash, one final time in the Red Glory.

Starting tomorrow, I intesnify my search efforts for a good 2004-2007 Sierra Classic 1500 5.3L Ext Cab, Z71/4X4 with under 75,000 miles. Till then, I'll likely be driving a rental car as my Crown Vic has a cracked intake manifold (thermostat housing is cracked, Ford used plastic back in the 90s, go figure) and I am not sure I want to dish out the $$$ to fix it, but am considering donating it to a cherity and taking in a donation tax break instead. we shall see.

:lurk:

Took a $10,000 pay cut at work, figured until I get me another job, I had best just be happy with the job I have now and make sacrifices. I don't like living paycheck to paycheck and if I had to continue making $670.00 a month payments I would be doing exactly that, so I'd rather get into something where I can continue to put money away in savings. I'm in the market for a 2004-2007 Sierra 1500 SLE/SLT Ext. Cab Regular Bed Z71 5.3L with under 75,000 miles. I loved my 99 Silverado (GMT-800) and I don't mind going back to a GMT-800 again. I just don't feel comfortable getting myself into anything with AFM right now, not until GM has a fix that works out for the oil consumption issues. Yes, I know I likely would not run into that problem, but why risk it.

PEace Out! Sounds like you made the right decision and it will pay down the road. I had a 98 BMW 528i that needed a thermostat at about 120k and the damn housing was plastic so I had to replace that too with a metal one and a stupid thermostat turned into damn near a $100 adventure. That plastic design must have been pre pre-employment drug screening or something for auto engineers.

Got my sights set on a BEAUTIFUL Gray/Silver (two tone) Sierra 1500. Has about 70,000 miles on her and asking price is about right. Going to see if it plays out. First thing will be a pre-vehicle inspection at an independent shop. Only problem.. It's about 190 miles away which means I rent a car to drive up there to take a look and see if I like it, then drive back, and fly back up to drive it back if I want it.

Glad to see you "coming around" Seriously, I really like GMT800 4wd trucks, and you can't go wrong w/ a good 5.3/3.73 (or 4.10) Z71.

2006 I believe. As for the photo below of the L-100? Well I'd rather be flying one of those than driving. FYI many years ago Delta Air Lines flew a few of them for Air Cargo duties. Bet ya didn't know that :(
