I recently stopped to get some wiper fluid to top off an almost empty tank. An ice storm was coming, so the guy asks if I want the "anti ice" or "regular" stuff. I say "regular", having never used the other. Every one of them starts telling me how much better the Rain-x anti-ice fluid is in cold weather. I ask "does it leave stuff on the windshield, like the old rain-x does?". Nope, they insist. So, I bought it and poured it in. Within a few days my windshield is getting that "speckled water" thing going that looks like someone rubbed silicone all over it. My memory of how much I dislike rain-x comes back. I emptied the entire reservoir and put in some normal (cheap) stuff, but I'm still dealing with the rain-x effect. I'm sure some of you like it, but I just can't stand having that wax-like crap on the glass. I'll probably have to buff it off with polishing compound :(

Just had to vent...

don;t ever use the window cleaner/rain shield wipes...they leave like a chemical looking blurry film on the glass

I guess I'm weird I like the rub on rain-x. It does leave alittle film on the side but it does not bother me

I can't comment on the wiper fluid but I do love the yellow bottle, rub-on stuff. So cool to be driving down the interstate in a downpour with all of the other cars around you blasting their wipers at full throttle and the rain just runs off your windshield like melted butter.

Just to clarify, this post was really more of a heads up that the washer fluid has the same stuff in it. The label probably says as such, but I was in a hurry and just took the word of the folks (all three of them that evening) working at the A-Zone. Silly (stupid) me...

I know a lot of folks like this stuff, but I'm not one of em.

Guess this means you don't use their new wipers?

I actually really like the Rain-X deicer formula. It's one of the few that I can actually use in cold weather that doesn't freeze to my windshield. To each his own though.
