My 06 Sierra 1500 has the towing package - question is - does it have a built in brake controller? It has the OEM 7 prong plug already in the back. Any easy way to find out?

no it would not have a built in controller....however it is "ready" if you want to add an aftermarket one

Integrated brake controller was introduced in 2007 (as far as I understand)
