However I wish they had not gone with that big ugly grill, instead should've went with the trailblazer grill. Would've looked 10 times better IMHO. But the pic is sweet never the less!!

I agree, it is pretty cool. I'm assuming we are seeing alot of pre-production parts though. So assume things will look slightly differnt.

I kind-of like it.  The pictures were on zr2.com a while ago.  Didn't some of these spy pics actually contain the guy's face in the reflections of the panels???

I saw that pic about 3 months ago, thought it was here?? I checked the date and it was current?

Yeah, that pic (and another one) have been floating around for 3 or 4 months now.

Zane --

Why is it just showing up now?  I'll have to do some digging, but I know that the pics were originally posted either here or PUTC quite a while ago.

Well thanks for bringing them up again though!

And the reason it doesn't work from what I was told is that someone inside of GM demanded to know where the pic came from or for it to be removed. The guy who took it originally almost screwed up because you could see his reflection in the trucks finish so he had to blur it out a little with either Paint or Photo Shop. Before that was brought to his attention you could see him clearly.

I think your are close YZRk.  From my take on the deal….was either a contract GM employee or some stupid low down GM employee with a desire to be some kind of industrial spy snagged a few shots of the truck at the Pontiac Truck Product Center in Pontiac, MI and started posting pictures on the Internet.  There was also some speculation that the pictures may have came from an outside vendor that supplies the service labor time studies for component replacements.  Well, believe it or not are a lot of GM people that visit and patrol these typle forums and spotted the pictures relatively quickly then the poop started hitting the fan real quick.  Within days the pictures were removed from putc and one other site shortly followed by an emailed admin memo to all GM people and contract people in the Pontiac East Campus and Warren tech center email distribution list as well as vendors with a “friendly reminder” on industrial espionage and possible criminal charges.   Maybe the timing of the memo was a coincidence but you never know….

I was actually surprised to see these pictures surface here again before media embargo date, as this site is an active GM Media participant. I am not exactly sure if a media embargo date has even been set on this stoopid little truck yet since the whole program has been one tribulation after another.

I have taken a few pictures from time to time but have never carried a camera in a secure area or through a gated area. But from my experience if something is in an open public lot…well then it is free reign for pictures.  Another thing to concider is I know for fact that sometimes mules are strategically parked in open areas for the sake of so called spy photos as it creates free media play advertising hoopla and product awareness via Brenda Priddy. (most spy photos in periodicals are from Brenda Priddy & Company) Believe me, most of the spy photos you see in the media don’t have much spy in them but more like conveniently parked.  I doubt you will ever see the photo posted on this website in any periodical such as TruckTrend as it is not an "official" spy photo.  More times than not true spy photos are just another smoke and mirror practice that the auto industry plays just like JD Power and Associates plays with on initial quality awards.

Here is one of the later posts (July 2002) -- the original one was deleted at the original poster's request:

In this post I had linked to some pictures that another user posted in another thread -- the one that you have on the main page is one of them, as well as a few others (the deleted thread also included some early photos of the Envoy XUV if I remember correctly).  I don't know how he came across the pictures.  A day or two later the original poster must have asked Mike (mlevine) to delete the first post and remove his user name and pictures from the other posts.  I don't know the story behind why he asked Mike to do this.  I have no inside connections at all, I simply posted a link to some pictures that were already shown.
