are HID's available from the factory yet?

even my dodge charger has factory HID's $600

$600 is a hell of a lot of money for HID's.

i can get hids for my truck at the local ricer shop for 110 for the fogs and 130 for highs and lows..but i dont like them

hids are not technically legal atleast here..as they can blind on coming traffic...they look cool yeah, but when the little old lady coming at you can't see and decides to plant her buick in your dash you may think twice

Silly statements:

HID's are standard on the Escalade. So they must be legal in 50 states. On my Dodge, they were a factory option for $600. Best $600 I ever invested.

HID's when done properly, like OEM, or amazing.

Not to mention every high end automobile has HID's standard. Corvette's, Mercedes, etc, etc.

you guys are just noticing the ricer aftermarket HID's, done without proper projectors.

Most people do not understand true HID set-ups and mistake the crap being sold on Ebay and the local auto parts store.

How does this look?

I have been fascinated with true factory HID set-ups for many years, but like many members here have absolute hatred for the idiots that just install a bulb and cheap ballast in their rides and say look at my HIDs. I can say pretty confidentally that there are way more crappy set-ups out there than factory ones. For those of you in doubt, please lower yourself (just once, we don't want to make a habit of this) to check this out for yourself at a high end car dealership (Lexus, Honda S2000, Mercedes, etc). These lights look nothing like the light clouds running down your local street lighting up everything BUT the road in front of them while blinding on-coming drivers.

Just a heads up for those who do not know..... HIDs (High Intensity Discharge) lights are not aimed any higher than traditional Halogen lights. They are actually aimed lower on the driver's side of the vehicle. The cut-off line is very sharp, unlike traditional Halogen bulbs. Low beams have a "gate" that is either permanent or on a solenoid (depending on whether it is a 2 lamp or 4 lamp set-up) to make sure low beam is low beam. This gate and focusing device is called a projector. Looks kind of like a geek's Coke bottle lenses on his glasses. These types of set-ups do not use the silver reflective surface on a traditional light assembly. Think of a mini camera in your light housing with the light only coming out of that little lens. When a idiot takes the bulb and wiring from that set-up and puts it in a traditional lamp housing the light hits the silver reflective surface and with no guard (for the low beam) it makes a very bright lighting mess. Want an example? Take a spot light and shine it directly into a mirror!!

When done right (it is still a modification), these lights are far better to anything else on the market.

Side note..... the different colors you have been seeing (blue, yellow, white, pink, etc) have to do with the Kelvin temp of the bulb. Just so you know, the more color the less the function of the bulb. Yellow is like a dim white, then white, blue, pink, etc. White is the best for maximum visibility, unless it's for fog lights, then yellow would be better.

Now let me tell you this I have OEM HID on my CLK 550 and you even can´t compare those to the stadard lightning on my Sierra. When you compare these two to each other then I feel like having a candle burning sitting at night in the Sierra. And no, the OEM HID do not blind anyone as long as you turn from highbeam to lowbeam :jester:

But I can understand why some here don´t like the HID they´ve seen so far. This are aftermarket lights and like in the above post already said most of those aftermarket HIDs are not mounted properly or are just crap and have nothing to do with real HIDs.

So once again, does the 2011 TAHOE or BURB come with factory HID's?

I will NOT buy another car without them !!!
