Added Auto Dim Rear View Mirror

I received the auto dim mirror through ebay, gm part 15816792. Installed last week. Plug and play, basically you have to loosen the torx screw (photo 1) and disconnect the wire harness from behind the mirror. Remove the mirror and pop the wire harness into the new mirror and attached to window then re-tighten torx screw. 5 min max to replace. It is much better than the manual mirror and I hated the hanger at the bottom of the mirror, it acts as an obstruction.

I cant answer the onstar question as I no longer have a subscription (I dont see why it wont work). Bluetooth was unaffected.

I had hoped to be able to answer this, but I can't because UPS sucks. They have had 3 packages for a weak (one of them a mirror) They won't deliver because of weather. FedEx has been to the house. They won't let me pick it up until an unsuccessful delivery attempt. @$%@

 

I ordered one and will soon test all the functions. I am hoping to be able to tap into the existing temperature sensor that displays in the DIC. I doubt it will work. but I am going to try and post back. There is a ton of information about doing this, none of them indicate any problems with any of the functions, as long as the mirror you get has the functions you need. I think I have even read that you can remap some of the buttons if you don't mind some basic circuitry work.

What's odd, is that the auto-dim was standard in my 08 SLE. I noticed it missing in the '10 I test drove. Did they drop it in 09?

No in 2010 they dropped it (99% sure). The mirror I have does not have the temp/compass option in it even if I wanted to try. That mirror is a different part number.

Not standard after 09, you needed the power rear window slider or the rear window defroster option to get it.

In 2010 it didnt come with the power slider because I have it. Just like the turn signal mirrors its an LTZ standard option only.

Sorry.. My bad. They must of changed in 2010, cause my 09 had it when we ordred the Power Slider and when I ordered my 2011 it was the same, the only way was with Power Slider or Defroster.
