Why No 6.2 In The 2500?

Can anyone tell me why GM does not put the 6.2 in the 2500? I was going to buy a 2500 but went with a 1500 with the 6.2. The 6.0 is rated at 360HP and 380flb of torque. the 6.2 is 403 HP with 417flb of torque? My 2010 sierra is rated to pull 10,400 wtih 3.73's and the 2500 with the 6.0 and 3:73 rated at 10,500 or so? So the life expectancy is much greater with the 6.0?

Yes, presumed longer but I'd argue that. :)

And a truck equipped with the MAX Trailering Pack, Extended Cab models can tow 10,700 lbs. and Crew Cab models can pull 10,600 lbs.

Supposedly there is a 7.0L direct injected gas engine coming for the HD's in 2013 as a 2014 model (next body design).

I suspect all GM trucks will be getting direct injected gas engines.

well I didn't tell her I was buying a new truck, the GMC dealer called for a payoff at the bank she works at :D

Guess who the GMC dealer ended up getting the pay off from ????? MY WIFE :D

I got a text message from my wife after she hug up from the dealer and it wasn't pretty. :shakehead:

She don't even work in the loan dept she is the Accounting manager.

Not that she would have noticed me replacing a 2007 silver 1500 with with a 2011 2500HD midnight blue one, since they were both crew cabs I was just gonna tell her I got it painted a different color

I would agree because you are likely right. Same thing as 15 years ago there was a perceived issue with aluminum heads on hd motors and diesels(actual issue much less than perceived). From an engineering standpoint. material composition has little to do with the application of the motor.

While there could be a projected longer life span for the 6.0l due to its iron block, it susupect the real reson is torque curves. I havent seen the torque curves for the 6.2l, but Id bet that its peak torque comes in at a higher rpm than the 6.0l and the power band is narrower.....
