sahls01gmc Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 I need some new shocks, and want to see what all of your reviews are. I do moderate to light hauling in the truck, and the occasional trailer. Empty driving is usually 70/30 highway/city. I do also work construction, so I encounter the occasional sloppy jobsite, and I like to "lightly" play off road occasionally as well. What would be the best set for me? I know the new GMC's have Rancho's, and the Chevy's don't. I will say that I love the ride quality differences from my GMC to another Chevy. James
txab Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Bilsteins. #1 for me http://www.google.com/search?q=shocks+site...images&tbs=
Superperv23 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Just put on bilstein 5100 and they are great, much more controlled and smoother ride.
DwayneJ Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I haven't changed shocks on the truck yet but based on my experience with my other cars. Bilstein is what the truck will get without any second thought. Buy them from someplace like Tirerack and they are barely any more than a "premium" parts store shock like a highend Monroe.
chakis24 Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 any ideas as to why the 5100s for my silverado it says i need a two inch lift on the front for my truck, but the ones that come up for your truck dont require the two inches? they are the same part number? and would a torision bar crank be the same as having 2 inches of lift on the front? part number 24-186643 2001 sierra 1500 5.3 4x4: 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber Part Number: 24-186643 MSRP: $145.00 Old Part Number: F4-BE5-C153-H0 Setting: 5100 Series Bilstein 5100 Series Shock Absorbers are high gas pressure monotube shocks designed specifically for lifted pickups, SUVs and Jeeps.
