Why Is American Chopper Still On?

I haven't watched American Chopper in over 3 years.....untill tonight. I'm guessing it's the last 4 episodes of this season I watched.

What crap this is. Road-kill that keeps getting rolled over and over again.

JR's shop driving Tundra's, but is chicken-shyte and drives up to the GM Design Studio's in a Tahoe. And that Cadillac bike where the rear end looks like a Vespa scooter.

Mikey a whiney, '...it's not my fault that I'm a druggie and dysfunctional...' , take responsibility for your own actions and behavior.

Sr, he still doesn't really design bikes anymore.

I'll stay in my Family Guy/South Park and soon to be back Beavis & Butthead world.

Yea the show really went south.

I use to watch it all the time,... but not interested in a soap opera :dunno:

haha thats funny, i watch all those episodes last night too.. i felt like it should be on MTV or something. the only reason i kept watching was becasue it was cool to see the inside of the caddy design studio.

the show used to be good, but its terrible now.

The show should have been cancelled years ago. Seems like they keep it on so they can make some money fro mpeople watching the father/son law suite drama, that's all it's about anymore. Sr does NOT design any bikes that I can tell, he just complains about his son. Worst "reality" show ever.

but the American public LOVES reality tv with dysfunctional morons doing stupid crap.. That is what they watch, that is what sells..

500 cable/sat channels of the same crap.. hell even off-air networks are garbage.. it's living proof why people are idiots..

I find it appauling how Senior gives Junior no credit whatsoever. You can see from the caddy bike that he is far superior in the design aspect. Personally I liked the build off. Yea the drama stuff is dumb but they still make some cool bikes. Jr made an army bike for Jared Allens charity and it looked sweet.

I wish OCC would "Free Rick" to go to JR Designs. But I have to say that Jason at OCC did a great design on the Caddy bike. The last I saw on Facebook, the votes were 95% to 5% in favor of Junior's caddy bike. I agree that Mikey needs some help . . .

I agree. I still like to watch it for the fab work and design part. Never been a Sr. fan and never will be, either. Besides, its on tv on Monday nights and there's nothing better on until football season.

I still like it for the fab stuff too. The drama and bickering is old. I record on the DVR so I can choose to skip parts. Thought the JR Caddy bike was superior and like that episode.

The episode of them racing the CTS-V's was pretty sweet. They should have done an entire show on that.

never liked the show from the get go, i don't see any appeal in their bikes yes the work put into them is alot but in the end they are all the same basic layout and parts

Hmm, would that be Top Gear then?

I liked the show when they made bikes, now as mentioned above its more of a soap opera and whiney sh**.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
