Daylight Running Lights

I have a 2000 Sierra 1500. Both daylight running lights aren't working. The chamber was filled with water. The fuse is good. The bulbs are good. Is there a relay somewhere?

 

Any advice would help

Are you sure the bulbs are good? These were prone to burning out and even more likely if they got wet.

You want to hear something really crazy? I have owned my truck for 5.5 yrs and they have never worked until today. I noticed a reflection on a bumper in traffic ahead of me and my driver side one was on! WTF? I will have to investigate it further if it doesn't rain tomorrow as predicted.

There is an ambient light sensor on the dashboard. It controls the headlights and DRLs

The bulbs are good, tested them in the turn signal they worked. Replaced relay under hood in fuse box. Dried everything out really good. Nothing

 

What next?

use a multi meter and see if they are getting power to the socket, if not then check on the back of the socket where the wires go in to see if power is getting there. It's not uncommon for the sockets to go bad either.

I'll try that. Does anyone know if it's true that there are two relays? One labeled DRL and the other IGN E as well as one 10 fuse

I am not sure about yours but some will not work with the park brake set. That might be something to check out.

On my 99 you can't have the e-brake on. You must chock the wheels and check it that way. Apparently the previous owner loosened the bulbs on mine. I changed them to amber 3157/4157NALL. Looks much better.

Also on my 2000 I tried pushing the dome over ride button to run the lights manually. Pushing button 4 times with the engine running also works, as well as in the on position
