Now that I think about it, I've never seen a GMT400, GMT800 or GMT900 clear 35" tires with just a 6" suspension lift. Hell, the 8" Fabtech lifts that I was putting in GMT800's like crazy for a while there, would barely clear 35's but Fabtech kept telling me, and all their customers, 37's on 4.5" back spacing wheels, for that lift. 37's would crash the fenders just like your 35's are on your truck. All that I can assume is that Fabtech's measuring equipment must be different than mine.

yeah, you think they would just make a lift that actually cleared the tires they say they'll clear.

Also to the OP... I'd consider dropping tire size before I'd go cutting up my truck

Can't go smaller tires....these look too good. I'll trim plastic and go from there. Go higher if needed.

i got a 285/75/16's on mine which is basically a 33 with just a leveling kit, i know for a fact 35's can fit on mine with a 6 inch lift

Sure, on factory back spaced wheels, and keep them under 12.5" wide and they WON'T rub but good luck with all that.

I hear ya....thanks for the advice. I have been working this morning, but I am going to pick up the truck this afternoon. I told them to trim the plastic but not to cut metal. If it still rubs I will put a small body lift on when I get back from vacation. I think that is all I can do. 4.5 bs does look good. Nice black truck btw.....

If you decide to go with a body lift, do yourself a big favor and DO NOT even consider anything less than a 3". 1.5" won't give you enough to clear those.

Well I drove it home! It looks sweet and drives great....the mechanic did some trimming but it looks good and no metal was touched in the process. I'll get them on photobucket and post a link later tonight.

Blackout: what do you think about fender flares to protect the body from dents and dings from rocks with a 4.5bs? It doesn't look like you are running any, when you drive in rain does it beat your paint up?

above should link to my photos in photobucket......edited....that's not working so I attached them below.

thanks, I think it worked out. I spent hours and hours looking at trucks and reading threads......next up maybe bushwacker pocket fender flares....I just don't know how beat up the white paint is going to get when I drive in the rain......or from randoms road debris when it is dry.....any thoughts?

Yes... I would seriously consider a set of fender flares  The GMT-900's design is terrible for rock and chips and having the tires stick out further than stock.. the sides are going to take a beating from those tires.

I have a fabtech, 35s that stick out, and pocket fender flares. Its not that bad, Ive had the lift on since the truck was nearly new in '08, and i have slight chipping on the bottoms of the doors, but not much at all.

BUT i dont think the fender flares protect at all, mud flaps would protect better, (i dont have them). The fender flares are only good for keeping you from getting pulled over.

Very nice. I'd like more lift in the back, if it were mine, but that's just me.

BTW, you'd better get on mowing that grass before you leave on vaca too! LOL!! J/K
