TSB is out of pocket if out of warranty.. so expect 1 hour of labor at least (and it shouldn't take more than that), all a TSB is, is a known issue (Techinical Service Bulletin) with a bulletin on how to correct, as opposed the tech scratching his head and trying to troubleshoot.

I know this one:

it is known issue with some ipods and flash drives and there is a TSB to correct it: requires a firmware update to the headunit and the usb module.

TSB # PI0003B (June 24, 2001)

USB Error Message and Ticking Noise (music playback)

if you shoot me an email addy I have the PDF of it from when my dealer did mine.

That PI is for navigation radio's only. RPO UUK or UUL.

Does the radio still work correctly with your original drive, just not the new one? Maybe just the new drive has an issue then? That would be my first guess.

Always had some minor issues with USB flash drives. Most common is when truck turned off then on again later, player doesn't resume where left off.. just starts over at 1st song on drive. Completely random when it does this.. sometimes truck is off for hours & sometimes only minutes.

Was using a Sandisk Blade b/c of its small size but transfer speed is so painfully slow!! Got a new PGi b/c of its even smaller size. Works perfect when you first plug in, but after power off/on, the radio can't find it. Just 'Searching for USB' message forever.......

did you wipe all the pre-installed crapware off the drive?

some of them have security or UDP software (makes a computer think it is a CD drive rather than a flash drive)

After reformating, properties show 7.20GB capacity, 7.20GB free & 4KB used. Switched view & saw no hidden files.

Try your drives in a friends vehicle, if you can to see if its the drives/files or your truck. I'd certainly try that before possibly junking a perfectly good radio.

the 4kb could very possibly be built in plug&play firmware
