BFG 285s

Hey guys,

for those of you that ended up getting the BFG A/T 285s, did you also replace your spare?  I was told that the tire won't fit on the spare rim since it is a 6" rim.  Are the normal rims 7" rims?  Will the new spare fit under the truck with a larger rim?  Thanks for the help.

I have a 285 BFG spare.  Don't know off hand what size the rim is, but it's the plain, silver steel wheel.  It fits fine under the truck.  The only modification I had to make was the tail pipes that were run from the back of my flowmaster a couple years ago.  They came kind of close to hitting te tire on one side, so I just cut the pipes off and have them dumped right after they come over the axle.  One of these days I'll get around to getting new tailpipes routed.  :puke:   Shouldn't have any problems with the stock exhaust and tail pipe though.

Ryan has a 285 spare also, and as far as I know, he hasn't had a problem either.

I'm almost positive that the spare wheel is 16x6.5. There should be no problem with a 285 on the 6.5" rim. Alot of people are putting 285's on the HD rims which are 16x6.5.

yep i have a 285 spare on the steel rim (6.5" wide)

I think i have 25 miles on it.  The tire does fit under the truck with the 285s but i throw it and lock it up in the bed

Was going to say I thought Ryan had mentioned he had his topside.
