I can do that frame in just over one 8 hour day. Actually, with the lift stuff, probably right at two full working days. I'll be damned to tell you how many hours it pays but for $1500ish, I'd do one at home, all day long and twice on Sunday.

I feel as though they dont want anyone welding on the frame due to liability to GM. These frames can without a doubt be welded. Another thought is that any welding or heating of the frame will cause the rust proof coating to be damaged. If you are up for a frame swap then I have to say my hats off to you. I hope this all works out for you.

Of course, welding on ANY frame can be a liablity but you can't just go blindly welding on this frame. If you overheat it, it is junk as it will loose all of its hardness and fold like a pretzel with even a good smack from a 10" sledge hammer. So while they can be welded on, it is a lengthy process. I'd still do it before putting a frame on it.

Just because they dont "recommend" doesnt mean it cant be done. they dont recomment running larger tires, cranking up torsion keys, driving extended periods with the lower air damn removed, and a bunch of other things that us truck owners have done with no issues.

I have a aluminum wheel on my 2005 sunfire that has 180k on it, back at 120k a tie down rachet fell off a flat bed that I had no coice but to run over, it took out my tire and split my wheel. I could not find another matching wheel anywhere, and didnt want to replace all 4. I had a local welder weld and repair the wheel. It turned out to be nearly perfect balance and at this point i could not find the spot of the repair on the wheel. This is not recommended by any standard, but I made sure the welder was qualified and it only cost me $50. This ended up being a great fix. Wheel repair and tire outed me $150, insurance quoted over $1000 and I had no body damage.

Do you think GM will cover your lifted trucks frame that is damaged right where the aftermarket suspension bolts to the truck? Do you know the front crossmember of your truck is cut out for your lift kit?

Also I would pick to have my frame welded anyday over getting a frame pulled back into shape after a wreck. Go to any bodyshop around you and they will be pulling/stretching frames back into place. They don't swap out frames for a wreak so what the difference in your case.

Take our advise and get someone skill to weld you back up and be done in an hour.

Well thing is the frame I would get would be from a truck that was totaled from water damage.. so the frame is fine.. im going to ask him.to weld it if gm falls threw.. he knows alot of people and thinks he will get it covered ... the lift is not what caused the problem he says ..

I appreciate all the help and info you guys are giving me.. Dont get me wrong, u guys know your stuff about this topic and i appreciate all the help. Its hard having you guys and my dad and my mechanic all trying to help me.. Im not saying that your guys answers are wrong or right.. Im just trying to exhaust all my options before i decide how i wanna deal with this. Im going to talk to him about welding the frame back together, BUT i want to atleast "try" to see what gm says... Its worth a shot.. Next will be welding.. im sure i can show him all the info you guys have told me and maybe he will rethink or say yes to that.

If your frame has been modified in anyway all warranty will be void. If someone knows someone, who knows a guy that can fix this for you, well more power to you I guess. This is turning into a shady scam over a $100 repair, weather its you, or your buddy, or GM someone is lossing their ass on this. And thats a damn scam!
