2011 Silvy 5.3 3.42's does the exact same thing. Damn near rear ended the car in front of me the first time it happend. I just assumed I was the only one and I havn't told my dealer yet because I wasn't sure how to describe it. I've been living with it the past 18,000 miles but it does not make me happy. This is my first chevy and I belive it will be the last. This dang truck also ticks like a time bomb when I turn it on in the morning. sounds like it runs without oil

Dont let this get you down. The GMT 900 is a solid truck. Its just the tranny has a bug no one ever looked into. If you drive smooth and dont brake last minute the tranny keeps up. The tranny is always thinking and trying to make shifts smooth.

Well, finally called to bring my truck in and explained the situation to the service dept, and the guy says that its normal for these trucks to do it. He has an 2011 and his does it also. It has to do with the computer. I mentioned to him is it normal for it to surge ahead then almost tail ending some one. No comment. " We will take it for a test drive, well its not going to do it then. I'll report back monday to see what they diagnose it with.

i brought my truck to the dealer they could not replicate the issue but understood what i meant. They re tuned the truck not to idle up when slowing down.

Problem solved.

Mercedes and Lexus use 8 speed automatic transmissions in quite a few of their cars and SUVs. If you think that a 6 a speed transmission is busy, what about an 8 speed? I wonder what quirks those transmissions have. I am sure there are a few.

What do you mean they retuned the truck? Did they update the ecm calibrations or performance tune it?
