i dont care if ford or chrysler trucks have newer or nice interiors according to the books, but i think that the GM LTZ/SLT interior is the best truck interior out there, its simple practical and looks good and is comfy

Out of the big 3, the F-150 is the ugliest.. Ugly front end, ugly back end. Let that be a turn off for ya. There are also people reporting on the F150 forums significant disappointment in the fuel economy on the ecoboost engine. It is flat out lousy for many. Maybe Ford will fix it in a few years.

 No worries with convincing me which looks best.

Maybe I'm odd man out here, but I like the look of the new Dodges pretty well. Although the brand new Sierra's look the best :D

Agreed the Rams are nice but IMO the All terrain package on a Sierra is killer.

The bottom line with this entire forum set is simple, at the very least we're all talking about American made! Home of trucks, birthplace of awesome. The F-150 is pretty sweet, but whether or not you're driving a blue oval, a silver bowtie, or a goats head, its all red white and blue!

Sierras look to old fashioned imo in the front. The "cheese grater" denali grille is outdated looking already and the headlights look like something that came out of the 1980's still. I do like them however as far as everything else (that's why I bought a chevy and powercoated the bumpers to match). F-150's are just plain ugly except the interiors, which are quite nice. Dodge's have good looking interiors, the front end on that truck is getting more stylish however the profile on it looks rather ugly. There is no perfect model, each truck has it's own style. I think the next Gmt will be very similar to what is now with more modern looking interior.

i like the f-150s but to me the warranty says it all....if its suppose to be such a tough truck why can't they back it for 100k or 5 years like most other brands?

I bought mine certified pre-owned and it came with a 6 year 100,000 mile warranty?

Yea, I'm hoping if GM does this with a v6 they do not market it as a higher MPG engine, but rather as a higher torque/towing engine.

You have 5000 - 6000 lbs, you stick a v6 turbo in it, it's a frickin wind sail of aerodynamics, and then are upset you can't get 30MPG with it.

Power is one thing, wind resistance is another. Efficient power in the face of wind resistance is something completely different. Bottom line, turbos use more fuel to make more power, not better MPG.

I dig the F150's interiors, and I think the 5.0 is a hella nice engine. I'm hoping to see GM thump it on their 2014's with a new powerplant.

I think the EB Ford engine is a great idea, they just need to finish it. While I am not your usual fuel mileage junky I see no reason having the power that my 6.2 does and getting 25 + unloaded. The simple fact is that in order for a turbo charged engine to get fuel

mileage, the turbos have to be kept at bay or it will start drinking fuel from there. Hopefully GM's V-6 TT DI truck engine uses better cals to keep that from being an issue.

fords warranty is 60k or i think 3 years...you must have an aftermarket warranty

Thats terrible. I just looked it up, and its 3 years/36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5 years/60,000 powertrain. That would deter me alone when others are at 100,000 miles :dunno:

Wouldn't really matter for someone like me, since it's rare for me to exceed 60k miles in 5 yrs. The bigger issue is that it will still be ugly @ 60k *and* 100k miles :)

I started this thread with "growing on me", but there's some things I noticed when looking. One, and it's the same for the Tundra, is that the bed rail caps are just a plastic overlay. It's not solid sheet metal under there, but a "grid" of metal that the plastic snaps into. The fender wells have less steel too. I also noticed on the F150 I looked at, that if I push down on the rear, it's very soft at the start, and then firms up after it has already dropped a couple inches. My Sierra doesn't compress hardly at all. I can't help but *believe* that my (stock) truck suspension will handle the weight of a heavy camper better. Didn't look on the Ford, but the Tundra gas cap door is plastic too.

I hope not, but I bet GM follows in their footsteps and replaces more metal with plastic parts, to save on weight and cost. Bummer...

    • This is NOT impact damage nor neglect. There were previous class action lawsuits because of such paint preparation st GM manufacturing plant. Not just the Cherry Red Color. This paint is applied in three processes to obtain the desired color.  The manufacturer will cover for 36 months or 36k miles only. That rust is actually corrosion because of the paint process failure. Corrosion is covered for 100,100 miles or a certain months. However their corrosion doesn't include this type. Go figure. Clearly manufacturer knew from previous paint issues. This started 3 weeks ago out of the blue.
    • Is it time to put a piece of tape over the CEL?
    • consider doing electrical testing?  I would guess some power or ground wire/connection has a problem.   alldata.com has wiring diagrams, connector pinouts and diagnostic procedures you can use to find where the problem is.
    • can you tell if the reader is actually trying to get codes, and the pcm is reporting none, or is your reader just silently failing because it's not communicating with the pcm?
    • Any joy with this truck seems to be short-lived.   The CEL for P0172 ("bank 1" too rich) is now "intermittent".   I'm not sure where to check, or re-check, and my energy to keep chasing problems with junk is wearing thin. The P0172 seems to set as I'm coming to a stop, completely off the throttle, when fully warm. At least, that's what it's done the 3? times it's set.   Everything appears normal on the scanner EXCEPT long term fuel trim. There's only one bank on this vehicle because it's an OBD 1.5 with only one upstream O2 sensor. At idle, it's around -16.4% and will dip to -18% occasionally at idle or off-throttle. LTFT approaches 0 when throttle is held at 2500rpm. Short term appears normal, much closer to zero all the time. The LTFT tells me the engine is running rich at idle but compensating at higher load. But, why?   The EVAP purge valve doesn't appear to be leaking/sucking fuel vapor continuously. Is it sticking just as I come to a stop and the engine is choking on fuel vapor and sets the P0172? But that doesn't explain the persistently negative LTFT. Disconnecting the purge valve doesn't seem to make any difference.   I suppose that leaves another dang issue with the fuel injector. A leaking fuel pressure regulator, a new leak in the spider, or a leaking fuel injector/poppet valve I didn't see, or a small crack in one of the spider legs.   The vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator doesn't have raw fuel in it. It doesn't even smell like fuel when it's pulled off, not until you suck air through it, then you can tell it leads to a fuel component. I'd consider that normal? Nothing is signaling this is a FPR issue from the outside, at least.   The oil smells like fuel but it's not building volume. I've noticed most oil in most engines smells like fuel to some degree so it's hard to say if the smell is an issue or not. Or if the engine just still smells like fuel because the crankcase was full of it a few hundred miles ago. But it's been changed twice since that original issue of the leaking fuel line dumping fuel into the intake.   Patience is running very thin. Every win seems to be accompanied by two steps backwards, or another issue that leads to removing at least the top half of the intake manifold. Enough! LOL
