F-150 Growing On Me

i was placed in a 2011 5.0 while my 2011 sierra 4.8 was being fixed (old lady backed into me). for the 4 days i had the CC f-150 i was very impressed. the ride was smoother than when my 4.8 was stock. the power delivery and overall power was smoother and definately felt on par with a 09 2500hd with the 6.0. if not it felt like it had more. liter for liter GM trucks are in trouble as far as power goes... fuel mileage got 18+ and i didnt have to baby the throttle to get that either. i was quite impressed

 

would i own one.... probably not, because its a ford and it seems to me that fords are priced higher than GM's

i like the f-150s but to me the warranty says it all....if its suppose to be such a tough truck why can't they back it for 100k or 5 years like most other brands?

I bought mine certified pre-owned and it came with a 6 year 100,000 mile warranty?

 

fords warranty is 60k or i think 3 years...you must have an aftermarket warranty

 

 

I did not purchase an aftermarket warranty, I do not know much about the Ford warranty process but mine is just the Ford Certified Pre-owned warranty and is 6 year 100,000 on the powertrain and 3 year 36,000 on the rest from time of purchase, it does seem odd the pre-owned warranty is better than the new warranty but like I said I do not know much about how Ford does things.... I work for GM

i bet you make alot of enemys rolling into work with the blue oval lol, i've heard horror storys of people getting their rides trashed because it wasen't american made(retired gm workers told me that) i also know that when the big detroit auto maker big wigs get together they check vins to see where the vehicle was put together at...crazy

I'm kind of torn when it comes to this topic....I'v owned a 2009 silverado ext cab Z71 4wd, a 2010 F150 CC 2wd Lariat, and now a 2011 silverado CC Z71 4wd. The F150 that I owned was very nice. The interior was quite a bit more spacious. This was very nice for road trips and just daily commuting around town with the family. The materials in the Ford were much nicer as well. I will say though that some of the controls in the Ford were harder to use and not quite as straight forward. I hated simple things in the Ford like just using the cruise control. The 5.4 in the Ford was horrible gas wise, power, everything. I wasn't a big fan of that engine although the new 5.0 and 3.5 TT are supposed to be a lot better. In the end I love my chevys. I think they look better, cost less, have good engine choices, and are quite dependable.

The look of the Headlights and Tail-lights absolutely kill any chance of me wanting an F-150. Trucks shouldn't look like they're crying.

By far my favorite truck our right now...unfortunately. GM needs to step it up in my opinion. I'm sure their next body style will hit the nail on the head.

Have you driven one, and have you driven a GMT900 for a while to compare? Just curious, since the "feel" is very disconnected on the F150. I'm not trashing it (at all), but I'm curious if you're just looking at specs/power/etc or going by actual driving experience?

Yes, I have driven both. My best friend has '11 FX-4 Limited with the EcoBoost. I ride in it all the time.

 

The fit and finish is better, the power is nicer. It's a just a higher quality truck. The interiors blow away the GM interiors. All of this is just my opinion of course.

Do you own/drive a GMT900 routinely? My opinion changed in a way I didn't expect when testing the F150... mostly because of how it drove/felt vs mine. Compared to my previous GMT800, the Ford was a lot better, but not my '08. The feel during the short test drive was "disconnected". I can't say whether fit was better (didn't look), but the "finish" was just like the GM stuff, but more square/boxy/utility looking. Lots of plastic. The cloth seemed a little better, but the seats were harder and thinner. I didn't really see the Ford as better (or worse), just different.

I do drive a Vespa. Amazingly, a little bit of cash will buy a few different modes of transportation.

 

And Music, No - I do not drive a GM religiously. Maybe 3 hours a week if I was guessing and it is just a work truck.

 

The interior of the GM's kill it for me anyway. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE the NBS GMs even though their interior was kinda crappy too, but all the trucks were around that time.

I def feel that the ecoboost is all hype, the people who don't know that their are different options to give you either good gas mileage, or good towing capability not both sorry. And from the design stand point, yeah fords don't quite appeal to me, dodge is alright but chevy should take nots from chrysler, just checked out the interior of the new grand cheeroke, if spelt right lol, and it is so nice! And when chevy decides to go through with the 5.5 litre direct inject engines, ford will be left behind once more.
