F-150 Growing On Me

I have been watching the F150 forum to see what kind of issues they have been having just to see what their 4 All new engines are doing. After they dumped the 7.3 to go 6.0 then 6.4 now 6.7. I know those are all Diesels but that is 4 different engines in 11 years. The 6.0 was an awful mistake and everything else is just patchwork. Anyway back to what i was saying. The EB's have had a lot of people say that when accelerating the have lost power had check engine lights come on and have to drift to the side of the road. shut it off and start it back up and everything was alright. Ford hasn't really answered anyone directly but there have been guys that have had their trucks in the shop for weeks with no answer and no ford provided loaner vehicles. Most will get an injector replaced or even worse, the infamous I don't know. Granted, they run....when they run and they make Tq where you want it in a truck. I personally couldn't put myself into one, at least not without seeing ALOT of them with +100K and no problems. One thing I have always liked about GM is their reason-ability of replacing parts. I just did a quick Google and you can buy a Ford 5.0 for $6999. Found a new Complete with TB 5.3 for 2500 on sale for $2K. Essentially for the same price I can buy a brand new 5.3 and still have money for a maggie to sit on top of it for nearly the same money. Yes the ford has more room in the back seat and i thought with that ridiculously deep bed i thought it would have more room. Nope! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RQ6CBjGMpw go to 2:30 and watch the bed discussion. We (GM) might not have the highest HP on paper, don't even have the newest design but our power train will go the distance. Everyone knows we are good for over 100K in fact, gm is so confident they will drop a brand new drive train in it for you if you don't! So I will take not being the new hot headed kid on the block and be happy being old faithful :)

i don't hate ford, i just don't buy one reasons why...

1) they change motors like diapers(big red flag, the powerstrokes being a prime example)

2) their warranty is awful(another red flag)

3) just far too hit and miss, its about a 50/50 ratio daily of ford owners who either hate or love their truck that i meet in my daily affairs

Every Ford I have owned has had a "cheap" interior. It may look nice to the eye but then creaks and cracks and all kinds of stuff start happening around 80,000 miles and it's really a turn off for me. It is also my opinion that Fords are not as mechanically sound and well built as the GM cars and trucks. Ford claims to sell more F-150s then Chevy, yet I continue to see year after year more late model Chevy's and GMCs on the road then I do Fords. How do you figure?

They only count Ford vs. Chevy. When you put Ford vs. All GM trucks combined, Ford has always lost. Marketing b.s.

GM combined has been lower since 2008.

Except sense '08, correct. Forgot that. Thought before having enough coffee this morning.

I like both and if Ford wasn't so weird about how options are bundled I may have ended up in an F150 instead. I'm extremely happy with my Silverado, but there were (and are) some things I like more about the Ford.

I came to Chevy after owning 2 F150's and I am not looking back. This is my first Chevy truck but I have owned GM cars for years and I have always been a GM fan. I purchased my first F150, a 2002 based on the lower cost over GM. I never really liked that body style but it was a truck to me and my first full size. For the most part it was good but it did have some shifting quarts in the transmission. Did have the A/c compressor replaced because the seals went bad. The 4.6l engine in it would blow smoke and idle rough if it sat more than a few days. At 47k I figured out why when #3 spark plug was oil fouled.

Really liking the body of the 2004-2008 F150's I decided to upgrade to a 2005 and get the 5.4L this time along with a crew cab. Bad mistake that truck was a POS! Had to have the entire sunroof assembly along with a new headliner replaced at 5K miles... this was after the dealer replaced the sunroof motor in it and then realigned the glass. Sucks when it's getting ready to rain and it's stuck open! Had 2 fuel injectors fail. All and I mean all front door switches and overhead switches replaced. Rear power slider motor replaced. Luckily it was closed when it broke. Steering wheel because of cheap leather. Airbag because of cheap plastic. A/C compressor because of bad seals less than 36K miles seems to be a common issue here. Driveshaft replaced because a of slip bump issue. There were a few other issues but the one that got to me and made me decide to get ride of it is when the transmission went out at 66K miles, just 6K out of warranty. It was time to move on.

I really like my new truck and finally being in a chevy feels much better. But I do feel they could make a few improvements. Things like, The front end could be a little higher. My truck was bottoming out when it was being unloaded to me. My old Ford drove right up the trailer without issue. The radio in my truck is Bose yet the Ford had a better sound system. The stupid reverse sensing on GM sucks. I cannot leave my hitch in it without it shutting itself off. Never had this issue with Ford. Could also add some air vents for the back seat passengers. Fog lights could stay on a little better. Hate having to turn them on every time the ignition is cycled. Fenders could be round instead of square.. that just doesn't look right imo.

Overall I do still like the looks of the newer Fords better, 04-08 F150 is my favorite body style but when it comes down to it, Ford just doesn't make a better truck or car for that matter.

I love the fender swells on the GMT-900's. Everyone saying they don't like square wheel wells/fender flares/arches/..whatever can buy a GMC. They are rounder and less pronounced.

I think you'll grow to like the fenders, but the Sierra has the more rounded (and less pronounced) fenders. Looks is certainly a matter of preference... and I lean toward the GMC myself, but like the Silverado too. If you leveled the truck and put a *slightly* more beefy tire, the "look" would completely change, but mpg would take a hit. I personally like the stock height/rake, but I also care more about daily mpg and towing a big camper. A leveled truck doesn't look right with a heavy trailer squatting it down.

Im not a fan whatsoever of Ram interiors, but Ford's are really nice. Im assuming the 2013 or 2014 GMT will be very updated interior wise.
