Seriously GM WTF?

ok when I bought my 2010 Avalanche I was a little annoyed there there was no sun-glass holder, but I blew it off as it's a truck so probably no need.

 

 

however I went to the Los Angeles Auto Show yesterday, and to my dismay every GM car I sat in from $80,000 CTS-Vs to Corvettes to Camaros and the Trucks, SUVs, etc..

 

none have sun-glass holders, now grant I did not check EVERY GM product, but WTF?

 

I can buy a 5 seater truck with 8 cup holders but can't get a sun-glass holder? do the GM engineers not wear sunglasses or what..

I purchased a full roof console from a different year off ebay and put it in my truck.. Actually i think it came out of a suburban. It fit great, and works awesome. Has garage door opener spot, sunglasses , and a spot for cd cases which i use for other stuff. I did have to rewire the lights in it tho since they were not meant to go on when the door opened but only manually.. I rewired and it works flawless now!

Oddly enough, when I had earlier GM trucks that had "sunglass" holders, I never used them. They were either on my face, head or shirt but never in the holder. And now, I have the center console and they are in the eye glass hard case in my console when they aren't on my face only because they aren't cheap and I don't want to risk scratching them.

i stick my in the defroster on the dash. if you have curved pieces that go behind your ears, stick the curved part in the defroster and the shades will sit on the dash looking at you. they dont go anywhere, and are there when you need them. you can go to an autoparts store and get one that clips to your visor and holds your classes for like $2

My truck seats 5 I have 8 cup holders, but no sun-glass holder, and $80K CTS-V has no sun-glass holder, but a $12,000 Kia does. Kind of stupid to me.

Don't wear sunglasses? I've never worn a pair in my life.

 

 

I do however keep my normal glasses in the console.

I have to agree it would be nice to have a sunglasses holder. I have a clip on my visor but it would be nice to have a factory one that blended in.

 

As for cup holders, I somehow end up always having something in three or four at a time so I am happy for a few extra.

I have 3 pair (2 of mine and one of my sons) in the console.

 

I keep 2 where the Ipod cord is and one in my oakley case in the deep area in front of that.

Between the sunglass holder, threadlocker on parts that will inevitably loosen the day after the warranty expires, & grease on key wear points, GM saved enough money to pay 3 guy's pensions. Plus, because the parts will wear out prematurely they'll cash in, paying for 3 more guy's pensions.

 

That ought to make it to the next bailout ....

Yeah who cares, right? Just paid $32k ... or $460 a month with $8,000 down for a truck that doesn't have the things that make life a bit easier, breaks several times even before the bumper to bumper is up, and has more squeaks and rattles than the 13 year old 266,000 mile truck I sold to buy it. Not to mention the 4 digit a year insurance, MA excise taxes, sales tax on the full price, & maintenance costs.

 

In the future, I'll buy a 40 year old truck from AZ, install my OWN sunglass holder & keep my money where it belongs - in my friggin' pocket.

 

It's your money. If you don't mind paying a ridiculous amount of your hard earned cash for nothing, then I'll send you my address. I could sure use a few bucks.
