Clunk When Stopping

My truck is a 2009 extended cab LT, 5.3, 4 speed auto. When I come to a stop, I hear a clunk when I take my foot off the pedal. It seems louder when the brakes used harder. The sound seems to be coming from the rear of the truck. Haven't taken it in yet. Thought I would try here first.

Thanks for any comments you have.

This sounds like the slip yoke. I just had mine replaced yesterday with the new version (teflon coated) of whats out there. It's made now to not need to be greased. My service manager told me thats the old way of fixing them. These new teflon coated ones are supposed to be very expensive, but they work very good!

Thanks for the replys. I'll take it in and have them check it out. It's always nice to have an idea of what is going on before taking it to the dealer.

Thanks again,

So, this morning, I pulled the drive shaft out. I was expecting to see dried up old grease inside the yoke. To my surprise, it looked like clean grease. I still clean it up and put in some fresh grease. Only drove it about eight miles today. It seems ok so far. I'll report back after a week or so with the results.

Thanks for your help,
