Great bug and tar remover

I haven't seen this posted here yet, so I thought I would share a little cleaning tip I discovered. I use a Mr. Clean magic eraser to clean the stubborn bugs and tar that normal washing fails to remove. I've tried the bug and tar sprays before, and they don't work worth a darn, but the eraser wipes the stuff off without much effort. This is great for a spot detail after washing the truck with soap and water.

Be careful. I have used it on walls in my house and it can remove some of the paint off walls. Auto paint not so sure.

I bought 5 gallons of Barsol from a local auto-parts dealer in town, this is the same cleaning chemical used in shops. It will not hurt paint and it does miracles removing grease as well.

Gasoline works great for removing everything...literally!

Seriously though I was driving my sister's car (Plymoth Horizon) years ago & in the area I grew up they would "tar" dirt roads for dust pursposes. Well even though I was driving real slow I managed to get some of the fresh tar on her panels. Once I got it home I quickly washed it down with gas (all I had) then immediately did a proper wash right after. No bugs, no tar & the car (well paint job anyway) looked great. The car wasn't worth much it but my sister is mean when you piss her off....

I have used the magic eraser several times now on my GM vehicles, and it does not damage the paint/finish at all. I would not recommend this if it didn't work, much less use it on my own vehicles. It is much easier to keep a few erasers with your cleaning supplies than to keep the several different products specifically for this use. Your hands won't smell like gas when you're done either. Try this and I'm sure you guys would be impressed. I've fought for years to scrub bugs and tar off my trucks, especially in the summer, and this has been by far the easiest method. Adam
