automatic factory fog lights on with lights

Wondering if it is possible to make the factory fog lights on an 09 Silverado come on when the DRL's or low beams are on. Not a fan of always having to turn them on every time i start the truck. Would be nice if someone made an aftermarket switch to accomplish this. Not looking to do any cutting of the factory wiring.

I think you would have to cut into some factory wiring, at least run somedual wires to the corresponding relay that turns the headlights on when the sensor tells the system its dark. Could get complicated if wanting to do it professionally. But seems that fog lights tend to go out sooner than head lights so I don't see how hard it is to press a button lol.

Tap a relay into the headlight feed and have it power the the fog lights?

I don't understand why people want to run the fog lights all the time but a lot of people seem to do it.

They do it to irritate oncoming traffic. ;-) Also they are not really foglights. They are driving lights:ie white light. Real foglights are amber and will actually help you in the fog.

Yes and the fog/driving lights on the 2011 are a joke - 25 Watt bulb. I couldn't even tell when I turned them on. I had to get out and walk around in front of the truck to tell they were on!

That's it? My amber DRLs are brighter than that! ;-)

That's pretty sad. What is GM thinking?

Actually, fog lights can be either amber or white, and what makes a fog light is a flat, low beam that shoots low to the ground and under the fog. I would say that GM lights are more fog than driving. I agree they are pretty useless, which is why I went to all HID'S on my six lights, and relayed the fogs on with hi beams.....problem solved!

You must be pleasant to meet on the road. Like driving towards the sun. Blinding! I haven't driven a new truck with those white fogs, but I know my ambers on my old Firebird kicked ass!

Be sure to check with ur state statutes & laws. Some states it is illegal to have fogs on

unless the weather is inclimate. I know that in louisiana here, the statutes clearly explain

that.

I have driven in some heavy fog and the stock fog lights worked pretty well, much better than the ones in my 2000 GMT-800

Does yours have the 24 watt bulb? I think it is only 2011s, and maybe only the GMCs.

My 2010 gmc seemed to do quite well last night in the fog. They also help with lighting up the lines on the road when it's wet and slushy out in dark places.
