Turned the truck off last night with XM on. Turned the truck on this morning XM came on but no channels. Turned truck off, open door to reset, restarted truck and XM works fine.

Same thing here

This has been reported to Advent as a problem, and they have taken it seriously enough to have rounded up a GMC Sierra within 18 hours of me reporting it and hustling it into the shop! So far, they haven't experienced the problem. :- (

What we really need from everyone is to establish ANY kind of repeatable pattern that will help pinpoint the cause.

The more info the better, so please be as specific as possible when reporting what was happening when you see the problem (what source was on when car was turned off, how long it was off, how you made it report if you were able to get it going again, etc...)

when mine experiences it, it doesn't really matter how long the car was off, overnight, 4 hours between heading to work and leaving for lunch, a few minutes at a store. all times, XM was the last source playing (its really all i listen to, except pandora sometimes). and all times, when the unit starts, the channel, category, title, and artist lines are all blank. with a faint static sound

fingers crossed, hasn't happened since last wednesday

I tested it out last night and a few times this morning. Mine happens exactly as decribed above, to the T

This just in from Advent - we need to know what XM tuners are experiencing the problems and get more details on the vehicle:

Walt,

Thanks, we are seriously pounding on this. The key here is to nail down which tuners are doing it.

Could you ask these guys to list the year, make, model, and trim level of vehicle?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are taking this very seriously, so the more info you supply, the better the chances they can fix it sooner than later.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I haven't seen this exact issue but I've had to "reset" my unit by turning off the truck and opening the door after XM has sent a refresh signal. That's happened twice now and I've only driven the truck four times since installing it. I've got a 2009 GMC crew cab.

I have had to reset my radio multiple times to get the XM to work. Sometimes it would not display the correct information....the current song would be on and then when it changed the information didn't change. If I hit the station on the radio again it would change. I have had to reset my radio at least five times to get it to work.

OK, so what trim package do you have?

Let's give them what they want so we can get this all fixed.

Looks as if this update will bring back the use of factory XM preset retention....... maybe it will help correct this issue we are having as well :dunno:

This is from the advent site in regards to the update that I believe came out today-

All Prior Advent Firmware Updates are included in this version. There is no need to upgrade to any version prior to this before using this firmware.

This is a maintenance update to address the following items:

  • Enhance Radio reception and sound quality
  • Added support for iPod Nano4 and Older Classic models for Autoplay – iPod music must first be activated on the Audio System screen when first connected but will Autoplay on further start ups as long as the device remains attached to the Audio system and was not manually stopped or shut off.
  • Removed auto camera sensing feature, now requires trigger or CAN connection. Eliminates Delay for turn off if connected to a OEM Camera. Note: OEM camera resolution can be low depending on the camera the vehicle is equipped with. If the OEM camera picture quality is poor this cannot be corrected and is not a issue with the Advent Radio.
  • Addressed complaints in some vehicle where first words from OnStar we not heard – Corrected.
  • Enhanced OEM XM tuner response time and Preset station retention
