Brand new 2012 chevy silverado i got in January of 2012 had a knock from day one of recieving...

2 dealers "could not recreate the issue"

so finally i recorded on my phone with a sound clip and video of my oil pressure dropping and bouncing all over the place.

finally took it dealer 3, played it for them and they said thats great, but unless we hear it while it hear we cant do anything....

so when i wrote it up i left the truck running and sure enough it started.

long in a short, oil pump need replaced....guy said get ready for a recall from GM for this.

truck has 2000 miles...

he swears there will be no long term damage, but i worry about scoring the liners and all that. should i be?

I have a cold start valve knock since day one (2008 model), it got worse after 2 years, they changed all lifters, cam, oil pump..the knock is now back to the state when it was new BUT new problem developed immediatly after the repair which is OIL PRESSURE!!!, the pressure droped to 20psi when hot idle, before it idles at around 40psi...they have no clue!!

If it's cold start knock, let it sit in the dealership over night, keep the key with you and let the service manager listen to it in the morning.

well it was dropping below 20 at iddle and then would jump up and go right back down.

the oil pump seemed to do the trick.

i just worry about long term....but i guess i wont be keeping this truck past 100K. dont mean to sound like a snob but the luck i have is that 101K on the clock motor would crap out
