The Avalanche is based on GM’s full-size Suburban/Yukon XL SUV platform (not the pickup truck) which would explain the reasons some pickup options did not come with it.

I wish Avalanche would stay. I wanted to buy one when I bought the Silverado, but the dealer only had base models. I wanted fully loaded LTZ. When I buy a new truck in a year or so I would probably buy the Avalanche this time. I have liked it since it Chevrolet introducted it. Even with the body cladding.

i liked the fact that the avalanche was pretty much a truck that came with the suv front clip. i prefer that over the silverado front ends. over here though the plastic fades fast because its so sunny

The Avalanche should have never been called a truck. It was an SUV without a covered rear. They had SUV front ends because that's what they are. It's simply a Suburban without the 3rd seat area enclosed.

I have also loved the Avalanche since the first day I laid eyes on one. I even liked the cladding. Never had one though.

I have always loved the Avalanche!! I was hoping to get one down the road. I LOVE the Avy!! It is THE most unique vehichle out there. It is a shame to seeing go

Looked at a few . Looked like a truck with a crew cab and a short box basically,

It is,but with the mid-gate down and open it turns into a 8'1" long-box!

Yes, they messed with the suburban and it no longer has 8 feet of flat. The Ava is the last of covered 8 ft without going to a truck and cap.

That is a huge bummer that the Avalanche is going away in '13. I think it is an awesome vehicle. I was hoping to get one. I recently bought a '12 Tahoe.

I really dig the new body style Avalanche, that is until I was killing time at a ford dealership and they had a 2011 Avalanche with low miles sitting right next to the new ford trucks. The interior fit and finish in the Avalanche feels cheap compared to the Fords. I have always loved GM products, and still love all the old stuff, however the next truck i buy will most likely be a Ford.

So the news I heard is true, they are getting rid of the Avalanche's. I am on my second one now,a 2007 avalanche Lt, and I am glad Gm rebuilt my motor last year due to their [Oil Consumption issues] ring problem in the 07 and 08 5.3 engines. I have towed a 23 foot cabin cruiser with mine, travel trailers, and didn't think twice about it. I am one to change my vehicles 6 months to each year. Since the Avalanches I'm still driving it. I am an avid hunter, and this vehicle is so hunter friendly with the side glove compartments [deep and lighted] and the rubber matted bed with a cover you'd need an axe to get into it. [thief]. It rides absolutely great, My wife made the comment [ I don't have to slow down in the snow coming into the neighborhood on the turns. I corrected her on that statement. Yes it does stick to the ground great in snow, but you still have to go slow in snow! It has one thing that I would change. In deep snow, the traction control comes on and you can not rock it to get it out. I have heard of a owner of one tying a string to this fuse ,and when stuck pull the string to pull the fuse.My thoughts are just pull the fuse, when stuck.Or stay out of the deep snow! Other wise I love this truck, It fits me to the T.Good looking, 4x4, comfort A+,enough power to pull what I need,Storage plus,Quad cab, Sits high,Handles bad weather great. I'm glad I get to start over on my engine now that they are ending them. Owners who have them in the past will pay good money to get them now. If you haven't owned one at least give em a test drive. I love it......GGG. Ps. If you own a 07,08 [ rings were out of spec. causing blow by] Avalanche, tahoe, suburban, silverado, and it seems to be using excessive oil,but no leaks, They will run a test at dealership with dye. Be persistent, I told them when it didn't pass, I was not giving the loaner back till you honored the warranty. [They fixed it!] [Look under oil consumption problems Gm..] Good luck..

^ thought it shared the tahoe chassis

Negative.......It used a Suburban chassis. The Tahoe is shorter.

basically, it has the Utility of a Silverado, but has the Creature Comforts of a Suburban!
