i just swapped over the wiring harness and the audio controls to my steering wheel from my donor steering wheel and they still do not work. I do not know what to do as i was told that they were "plug and play" and that no flashing was required

please help asap

ps I know the switches are good, however i just realized that the lights aren't working on them either, the orange light does come on when i click the cruise button tho, but thats it.

How do you know the switches are good? Sounds like they don't work, lights should be lit if the yare plugged in......NO FLASHING NEEDED....They are plug and play.

Did you connect the wiring harness for the ardio controls? Possible the harness that plugs into them is no good.

Are you sure you did everything properly??

because I'm doing this on a secondary silverado, and i have my LTZ silverado here as well, so i tried plugging the controls into my wheel (which i know works perfectly) and they worked just fine. The truck I'm trying to do this on is a NNBS 07 silverado reg cab, with cd player, power locks, manual windows, 2wd, is there anything else that could be checked? does a fuse need to be put in place or something? Im up for any suggestions here, I'm stumped lol

Never heard of anyone with this issue before. Check all fuses and make sure none are blown. I do not think there is a seperate fuse for anything with those controls. All the trucks I did this on worked perfectly.

probably the wiring in the column does not have all the wires. I forget the name of the part, something like clock spring I think

yeah its definitely something with the truck because i even tried taking the harness out of my LTZ truck that i know works perfectly and it still doesn't work. I thought this mod was 'plug and play' though? what should i do now? I have everything wired in and everything but no working audio controls is there a way to make them work?

It has been plug and play for everyone but you for some reason.....If you get a picture of the part you need, I have an extra strreing wheel that I used the wires for the radio controls lying around. I can send you the part you need (if I have it in the wheel) for price of shipping if it's in there.....Let me know.

yeah Im not quite understanding this. I did everything according to the instructions, i got a donor wheel and took the controls and harness out of it, put them into my wheel and it doesnt work. I even tried taking my harness and controls out of my LTZ truck and putting them into it and even they don't work. Idk exactly what to do, I'm stumped and i really wanna get these working. What else could i possibly try?

Did you swap over the clockspring (SIR coil in GM speak)? This will likely be the limiting factor for the upgrade.

Posted

no i did not swap clock spring's i didn't know anything about having to do that, i was always told all that i have to do is swap in the harness and the controls and id be good to go. So thats what i need to do is get a new clock spring for a steering wheel that has audio controls? and if so could you tell me the part number for the clock spring?

Maybe. My truck came with all of it but logic says if you know the harness and buttons to be good, that is all that's left correct? I can't promise that will work but that seems to me to be the issue. No idea on part number though, sorry.

Long shot....especially since I've never done the swap.....could there be part of a harness that needs to be plugged into the back of the Radio ???
