Removing Pinstripe

I have a pinstripe on my truck that was on there when I bought it and i hate it. Does anyone know the best/easiest way to remove it? I have no idea on how to go about this. I know I need to wax it after I take it off to get rid of some of the ghost pinstripe that might be there.

 

 

Also completely unrelated but I've been posting on here forever and my 2" RC leveling kit and my new wheels and tires will be installed friday so i will have tons of pictures then (finally!). hopefully without a pinstripe too

yeah i read that thread haha its what led me to start this one. I wondered if there were any other techniques other than the way she did it and I didn't want to hijack that thread

Cool, I don't have any other suggestions. I'm glad mine didn't come with pin striping. I don't think it would look good with my color truck.

I pulled the pinstripes off of mine a month or so after I got my truck. If it's the stick on type of pinstripe, just use your fingernail, credit card, drivers license, etc to work one end of it up and start pulling it away from the truck slowly. It will probably break a few times, but you should be able to get it started again. After the striping is off, use WD40 or rubbing alcohol to remove the adhesive residue. Then wash and wax the truck and you're done.

I used a heat gun or a blowdryer will work just warm it a little as you go and it comes off like nothing.

That's probably the easiest and cleanest way to have it done.

I just pulled mine off of my 01 Suburban.

 

I used my wife's hairdryer. The trick is to get it really hot (this term is relative here...a heat gun will work, but be VERY careful as you can mess up your paint) then pull it at a 90 degree angle.

 

nce you get to the task, you'll figure it out.

 

Makes the truck look clean. It's nice.

Agreed.. hairdryer quickest / easiest way possible.
