How do you carry concealed in these trucks?

I keep mine in the console, if I have to leave it I lock it in the lower console (bench seat).

To all those bitching about guns being stolen out of vehicles, whats the difference if its stolen out of your house (for arguments sake they take the whole safe)?

All you can do is try to prevent it from happening. If they are gonna get it, they will get from either place. I had a guy ask me one time which one I would prefer (I already know someone will say neither but think about it) being beaten to death with a ball bat or tire iron or being shot..... The only people playing by the rules aren't the people you would need the gun for anyways. Just Saying.

The Console Vault is very solid, and worth every penny. I think someone would have to steal your truck, and work on it with tools for while to get inside it - I consider it "smash and grab" proof. I keep a holster tucked into the gap between the console and the passenger seat while I drive, and into the vault when parked. You can keep all of your valuables (GPS, radar, horn) in the vault, and you still have a good 4" space under the factory lid to store stuff. I will have one in every vehicle I own from now on.

Wow. Hijack City. Personal attacks. Hmph.

Well, so goes most internet discussions of the three Gs.

Guns

OP, If I were to carry a pistol in a GM truck, not saying I do or dont, he he, I would most likely keep it handy while driving, so the console is out for me, too awkward to try and quickly open the console lid and reach in with my left hand (Im a righty). So probably wedged between seat and console in a tactical holster, with the velcro retention strap not strapped, for easy weapon removal.

If your weapon is anywhere other than on your person, you will not have time to react when the time comes. No time to open console lids or reach elsewhere. By the time you do that, it will be to late.

Texas Daddy, do you have the center console or the Jump Seat? I have the jump seat and I have been looking at the Console Vault for the jump seat. I was wondering how much room is actually in it, I guess it depends on which gun they used for the design. I'm sure it wasn't a full sized 1911. I thought the same way about the vehicle would have to be stolen so they would have time to work on it.

I have the center console with the buckets, but the jump seat version looks big enough:

My only concern is with the screws holding the jumpseat storage itself.

The vault is not designed to carry any specific gun type, its made to create a safe-like door on top of your storage compartment. I could fit a 1911 in mine (my truck gun is a .357 revolver with a 4"). It is safely stored when I have to go into a store etc. - when I drive, the gun is in a holster by the seat belt buckle passenger side. No gun on my person would be nearly as quick to draw as me slipping my hand down off the arm rest.

If you can fit a revolver in it, the 1911 should fit alright then. It's hard to be faster than having it siting rite there where you arm is resting anyways. Thanks.

No need to answer this question, but where do you carry your gun. If it's at the 3-5 o'clock position, it should be fine to stay on your person. If you do get caught off guard and some thug wants to carjack you, you have to release your seat belt anyway to get out and that's when you can grab your holstered weapon. Even a thug knows that you can't get out of a car with a seat belt on! If you carry at 6 o'clock, I can see where that would be uncomfortable sitting, so my question would be, how do you sit anywhere while carrying?

In response to those asking why you would carry a gun to work and then leave it in the car makes plenty of sense. Most workplace environments are safe and there isn't much requirement to carry while at work. Is there a chance that something could happen? Sure, but it's even less of a chance than when you're driving to work, from work or anywhere in the public. Many state laws have overruled corporate policy stating that no weapons can be on the property because that would mean that someone that has to travel through "not so friendly" areas would not be able to defend themselves. A company doesn't have control over you before or after work so they can't mandate that you be unable to defend yourself. However, they do have control over the building you work in and can specify that no weapons are allowed in the building. Just get a gun safe or a good place to hide it and don't tell anybody where it is!!!
