I hate having left over parts

Especially when a professional mechanic does the job.

About 6 months after I got my truck, a neighbor asked to borrow my wheel wrench and extensions to get his spare tire down.

I noticed then that the stud in the cab was stripped and it took over 15 minutes to get the wing nut off to get at the tool bag.

Long story short...............I took it back to the dealer and they repaired it under warranty. When I got it back I checked the wing nut and it worked fine.

So the last 2 years I have never used the tools.

After reading the post about checking the spare tire to make sure it works, I went to do that today.

When I took the wing nut off and pulled the tool bag out, this little rubber piece fell out.

I have no idea what it is for or why it is not where it is supposed to be.

Do any of you have an idea of where this should go or what it does?

I have an 2009 LT extended cab model.

2 pics below...it is the exact size of a dime.

they are bump stops ,look for holes ,maybe for the spare tire tool door /access panel

+1 It'll snap into "a" hole, whenever you find it. Left over parts are the worst. Really annoys me too. :(

those look like the thingies for the fuel door so when you close it it hits on those instead of metal

+1 on that.

No...........just checked the gas door and all of them are there. The ones on the gas door are smaller than the ones in the picture.

I am wondering if it needs to go where the jack is tightened down so it doesn't bang around. I will have to check that when I get off work.

It goes on the support between the long and short seat bottoms. Open the long seat bottom, look at the support between the seats. I is about a 45 degree angle piece. The bumper plugs in a hole near the bottom. The long seat bottom mechanism closes against it.

That is it.

I see where it goes.

Thanks for the help. I knew someone would be able to help me.

Went up to the cottage last weekend. Family cottage, lots of people. Opened the dish washer, pulled the dish rack out. Didn't pull out very smoothly. Six of the eight wheels were missing off the feet. Found them all sitting in the cutlery draw. I hate extra parts too. If you find a missing or extra part. Click it back into place, and when you find it. Not later! Good for you for chasing down that extra part and finding where it is supposed to go.

What really sucks is the extra parts, and you realize that they go inside something that you just spent an hour buttoning back up. So you get the joy of undoing-redoing... :freak:
