Best 2 Stroke Oil and Stabilizer?

I have two 2 stroke outboards now, an Evinrude 6 on my 14 foot fishing boat, and a Mercury 20 (jet impeller) on my 20 foot duck boat. I've heard recently that Stabil (which I normally use) doesn't play well with most 2 stroke oils. Is this true? I want my carbs to stay in good shape, and I want to make sure the Queen Ann's Revenge and the Flying Dutchman (jet motor can run in 3 inches) are getting the best fuel possible.

I use ams oil dominator in my dirt bike, sleds I always used ams oil interceptor (designed for exhaust valves) and my outboards I use any TC-W3 compliant oil, it's just an outboard. Now I know some guys that run the snot out of their motors on bass boats run full syn (ams, klotz, etc) but for just a small outboard no need. Waste of money IMO, I've been running like the cheap ESSO brand stuff I get right at the gas station for 4 years in my 25 merc. Changed spark plugs every spring and cleaned carb once a year...summer 2011 I put around 150 hours on it. Not one issue, fouled plug or carbon build up. Just look for TC-W3 or spend a little extra run the synthetic. Either way it will smell good :-D

Nope never, I don't use that junk. Dirt bike I run 50/50 93 octane and c12. Sled I run 93 and everything else just unleaded. Never had issues. Ever.

I've used Stabil in my snowmobiles and Seadoo for about the past 15-20 years now without issues. All 2 stroke engines some fuel ole mix and others oil injected.

Bumping this because I tried some Star Tron ethanol remover in my Merc 20. Boat seems to run just like it should, we'll see how it does over time. I think I have the only 1 pull start boats on the county fishing lake :D

Wow. I should try that...I hate the ethanol in fuels it seems to wreak havoc on 2 strokes.

I've always used Stabil and really seems to keep the gas "fresh" in comparison to not using it at all.

It's pretty cheap, I think $10 for over 100 gallons of treatment. Since it is a stabilizer I just added that and Quiksilver oil. Carb is set to factory specs and it runs good.

I use Star Tron in my boat (2 stroke nissian) and swear by it. Never had any issues with the ethonal gummy up my carbs. My dad also uses it on his boat with a 2 stroke Merc.

Do you premix or are yours set up with oil injection? You can use AMSOIL's Saber Outboard 2 cycle oil if you premix. It will work well and keep your engine clean. If you have oil injection then you can use AMSOIL's HP Marine 2 cycle oil.

I have a bunch of people come up to me at the fishing shows and want to know what is good to put in their fuel to help with the ethanol issues and I recommend AMSOIL's Quick Shot. It is a really good additive to keep the fuel fresh and also a complete fuel system cleaner. You can't over dose with it either.

Thanks for the info black02, that Saber looks good, I might try some next time. Both of my outboards are 2 stroke. Don't really see many 4 strokes around here (on small boats).
