2004 1500 silverado leaf spring

just the other day i had the front of the rear passenger leaf spring hanger/bracket snap completely off and is wondering if there is any way to fix it?

Unfortunately I don't have an idea for a fix, but I'm wondering if you have a pic? I've got to see this, never heard of this situation with a truck so relatively new.

You have to weld new hanger on. Or the old one if it was a clean break post a pick for better detail. I've seen it done at work a long time ago not sure if its the same thing your referring .

Very common up north here. They rot away to nothing. S-series (Jimmy/Blazer/Bravada & pickups) are even worse, if you can imagine that one. You need a 200 ton press to get the bushing out of the leaf .. and even THAT struggles! Galactically craptastic design & materials - par for the 21st century course ....

everyone i showed even the chevy dealer said WOW and said they have never seen that before

 

where can you het a hanger at if the damn thing is welded to the frame

Lots of dealerships suddenly have very, VERY short memory spans ... especially when your "due" for a new vehicle ....

Don't know about the bushing but 2007 prior 1/2 tons at work (rough coal port in Canada) had a few broken hangers had the rear shock hanger break off an axle once I was involved in that fix. Yep welding is the only way. +1 on dealers short memories from other poster they are used to babied vehicles that don't get abused you know? Charge us 500$ "detail" fee to work on our leases! Lets just say they dont honor warrenties for us anymore... Coal gets everywhere...

 

FYI all 1/2 tons get an add a leaf cause they all crack fast around here.
