Window tint %? and fuses

Recommended Posts

I finally got the 2 front windows tinted on my truck, they used 15% tint which isn't bad but I do wish the truck windows were darker. The 3 rear windows are factory tinted already so what % would I need to put on to darken things up in the back windows.

What do others have for tint on there crew cabs?

Next up, where are the fuses for the pwr windows? I looked all through the labels for fuses on the truck and couldn't find it. Did I over look somthing.

Just wanted to pull them out for the next few days so the front windows don't get opened accidentally.

I think most power window setups use a self-resetting breaker, not a fuse.

I'd just use the power window lock button, that way only you can operate the windows.

For tint, I did 5% on all 4 doors and the rear window. That way it's plenty dark and the rear doors and rear window is just slightly darker than the front doors. I have never seen a vehicle with rear factory tint look good after only tinting the front. It's never a perfect match, and for me the factory tint is not dark enough.

Good call I'll do that.

Depends how dark you want them. I'd probably throw on another 35% or even another 20% if you want them dark.

I will agree with you there. The more I look at it the more I dis-like the look with the rear being different than the front.

Will have to chk into maybe another 20 on top of the factory rear windows.

So whats the %of tint all the way around?

If the colour of your interior is black, id suggest 20% at max.. thats my opinion. I have a jetta with beige int. and did 20% up front and 5% in the rear. I wish i did 20% all around.

if you did same tint on front and back it would look as the back is darker bc the front windsheild will allow so much light in and time that light gets to the back its not as bright, therefore giving the illusion that the rear is darker.

I own a skyline as a summer car and possibly plan to tint it, if i do im going to do 35% all around. just a light tint.

my jetta with 5% tint in the back i cant see anything backing up at night..

35% in the front the backs stock. My tint place had samples on all kinds of tint the 20% was closer to the stock but legal in ohio is 50 so i didnt want to push my luck that much.

i HATE when tint dosent match. if you have a good tint shop, they will know how to match the non tinted windows to the tinted windows.

i have 5% on the untinted 2 front doors, and the 3 rear windows have the factory tint which i forget what it is, 20 or 25. but they tinted the factory tinted windows with the same percentage tint as they are and it came out perfectly matching 5% on all

Defiantly going back later on to get the (3) rears done to match the front. When I look through the windows you can see the difference in the shades of black.

In your sig pic, it looks like the fronts were done using metallic film (or is that the before pic?). No amount of additional tint on the rears will match metallic film. Straight smoke tint matches best on fronts...
