Extended cab long box experiences

Hello, I'm looking to get a new truck and I may be able to get a fair deal on an ext cab 8' box truck. Its huge to say the least. I'm wondering how any owners find these for daily driving. I'm coming from a standard cab 8' box truck so do you think the few extra feet will cause issues with parking? Just looking for your guys experiences thanks!

I love mine, 05 sierra Ext cab long bed..Maybe its just me but I drive it around like its a honda civic! Im so comfortable with it. I never have issues with parking lots or drive thru,s.. You will notice a slight difference but nothing thats gonna bug ya. I had an 05 crew cab long bed and that was a

little tougher in tight spots.

+1 You get used to it. Drives no different, untill you try to pull in that spot at Walmart... LOL I love it now that I have all the room.

You'll eventually get use to the length. But there probably isn't a parking spot out there long enough for it.

had an ECLB dually, the rear width was more of a pain in the ass then the length. it all really depends if you think you are comfortable driving it or not. some people are, some people are not.

I had a 1998 Ext Cab LB until I replaced it with the 2011 same configuration which is a bit longer. No problems but I don't live in big city either. If you have a garage, you need to make sure it will fit. It also has the advantage of less people asking to borrow it once they have seen it.

 

To each his own, but I would not own a truck except with the 8' bed unless it was specifically for a tow vehicle only.

If you know what you're doing you can parallel park an ECLB easy. Parking in parking lots is harder though, sometimes have to do a 3 point turn. The duallys are a little harder yet.

The truck I was looking at I found out was in an accident at the back left. I inspected the area and found a lot of rust blisters. On that note I lost interest. Fighting rust is expensive. And at almost $20,000 I couldn't make a deal.

 

i ended up finding a 2010 z71 black ex cab 6.5' bed... I already miss the 8' bed as my old truck was a long box, but ill make do!

 

One extended question here though, does the 8' box hurt the resale value???

In my area, EXT Cab LBs are almost non-existent so when I sold my old truck, I was able to get more for it than an equivalent SB but I had a buyer that was looking for the combination.

Coworker of mine has a 4 door long bed f250 which is just a little bit longer and takes up 2 spots at walmart and has a hard time parking it in our small lots at the fire station but he says he absolutely loves driving the big thing.

GMT800 ECLB's are rare. only one member on here i can think of that has one. i rarely see them.

 

i dont know if it would really have a big effect on the resale, it wont hurt it but it def dosent make it worth more.
