VDP Shelf - '06 Silverado (Warning: High Res Photos Inside)

I decided to finally mount the shelf that I got for the Silverado. Here are some photos of what it looks like (unloaded) for reference. I have yet to complete my project for the shelf so it will have a different (modified) look. Enjoy......

Looks like a great place to stash a pistol length AR. That'd make a carjacker's day.

I think the sun visors being down that low would drive me crazy.

At 6'4" I think that would be directly in my line of vision.

The other problem I see would be securing anything stored up there.

It actually doesn't bother you much. We had one in our '97 F350 to stash the .30-30. We ran a velco strap around it to hold the gun down. The shelf wiggled a little over rough roads but was nice to have since the truck was regular cab.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I work overnights and just had the chance to log on. I plan to mount a mini itx computer and display (display will fold out of the way) and a couple of small storage drawers. All the items will be bolted to the shelf. The center of the shelf will be tied directly into where the overhead console was for additional support. The total weight should not exceed 25 lbs for all the equipment. I am 5'7" so the shelf is about 4 inches out of my line of sight so I could see where this could be an issue for those who are taller.
