I think this one needs cleaning, but what do I know. Sadly I don't think it's been cleaned since I last cleaned it for my dad a few years ago.

You Americains and your guns???? Never understood..... never will. Your own trained police force can't control their own guns and I get scared of thinking regular people have this many guns.

Canadia must have good "mental hygiene" programs. And the police problem isn't that they "can't control their own guns". They are obviously hitting their targets.

Not with the lack of ammo we have. I probably only have a couple thousand rounds between factory and reloads.

[The Canadian probably needs to change his pants now]

I try not to take more than a few hundred to the range so I don't blow through it all. This all reminds me of a guy that was in the stall next to us 4 years ago. He was taking out his brand new 9mm XD and if he hadn't handled it with some common sense (for a rookie) I would have been worries. The guy jumped every time my wife shot our 45 XD, and he spent a whole 5 minutes trying to figure out how to release the mag (and maybe 5 more to load it)

Seriously, if you can't release the mag don't go to the range until you have taken some classes!

I always help those people, partly for my safety and partly so they don't get frustrated and quit. When my buddy and I first started shooting/reloading we were using a single stage press to feed our 500ish rounds a week addiction. So much better with a multi stage press. When I was going actively to the range and doing matches I told myself just think how much all this would cost using factory rounds. Back then 22 LR was still cheap so blowing through a 550 box costing under $20 was nothing.

Also way to just assume all gun owners are drugged up alcoholics. If you're worried about Americans and our guns, please stay out of my country and enjoy the ride as that socialist idiot you people elected destroys your country or in the very least your currency.

Never assumed or said that ''ALL gun owners'' you just need one to inflict pain on a whole family and when you elect Trump we'll see who elected the biggest idiot.

This is why I clean my guns after every outing.

Me 2. When I was new to this I read the cleaner the better, it's not going to hurt anything, so that was all I needed to read.

Well if outing means everytime it was shot then that was pretty much cleaned after every outing. If it means everytime it left the house then it missed 500+ cleanings. Unfortunately I never could get my dad to go out to the range as much as I wanted. I think it's been sitting in the safe since I put it there shortly after he died almost a year ago.

Regardless I'm horrible about cleaning my guns, they always go bang regardless how clean or dirty they are. Another reason why I don't buy high end, or even upper mid grade guns.

I got 9 or 10 pistols cleaned/oiled so that's a start

I enjoy cleaning my guns about as much as I enjoy washing the truck.

I still do it after each use though, even if it's only one round. Powder residue in the barrel makes me think of road salt on the Chevy. Pretty much same results with time, and my house is sitting on top of a swamp - not a good combo.

I don't keep stuff in the truck all the time anymore. When I was out of town a couple times a week I would. Plus I am attending multiple events through the week so I have to have different clothes.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
