5.3 liter supercharger install

I put an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger on my 2011 Gen-lV 6.2L and i'm running 10.5 psi of boost and after roughly 7000 miles now,things are all good. I think it as to do with the tune, can't have any detonation.I'm not worried about any motor waranty,i take full responsiblity for any thing that breaks.My truck is paid for and happenes to be my hobby.If it was mt only means of transportation and i was still making payments,i might not have put on the headers and changed the pulls.But damn,this truck is fun to drive and my new injector came today,so it's time to bump it up a little more. I may stop when i get over 500 whp ,at 422 right now.

 

If you are running that much boost, with heads @ 10.5:1 compression, and you have not beefed up the bottom end of the engine (i.e. forged connecting rods, studding main bearing caps) your engine is not long for this world. JMHO

That is a lot of boost. But like Def Leopard said, it's better to burn out than to fade away.

I read it. This part pretty much says it:

Most parts are covered by either GM or Callaway warranties. Powertrain parts that are not covered by Callaway are listed on the reverse side of this document.

 

There's a fair number of parts that Callaway doesn't cover, regardless of "fault". They will cover most stuff that their system may have broken, but only if it wasn't a GM defect. I'd guess that "denial" doesn't happen very often, or they wouldn't be in business. Still, they know that GM will not cover their equipment/install, or any damage that it may cause. They are more-or-less saying "we'll fix our stuff and what it may break, but GM still has to fix stuff that's factory defective". The issue comes when neither accepts liability, and points their finger across the table Hopefully, you'll never have to deal with any of that.

Did anyone read that article about the junkyard 5.3 boosted build, which turned out to be a 4.8 running 28 PSI boost off a chinese turb, and made over 60 dyno pulls@ 1000+HP??

THAT is serious boost.

Is supercharging more dangerous due to higher drive pressures at low RPM?

Most superchargers run a bypass that prevents them from making boost while cruising. I think that's where you were going with the question.

While you are correct that the "he said she said " part of the warranty certainly raises an eyebrow, the first answer to question number 1 is no. My horse blinders help me to focus on that and not see (or just not want to see) the rest.

It maybe a lot of boost if all i seen was 10.5 on the boost gage,all the time, everyday,but to blast it down the road with the pedal on the floor now and again ain't going to hurt it.And if it does, oh well, gota pay to play

I totally agree, most people who "supercharge" their engine, WANT to get on it, I mean lets face it , you add it as a performance enhancer. I doubt if you will ever see a supercharged Prius. Just keep an extra $6k handy for the new create motor you are going to need in the next 25k.

25k,that's all you think i'm going to get out of my motor before i have to replace it? Nah, i have to disagree, i think it will go much further than that. Seen many a 6.2 stressed way more than what i'm doing to mine still purring like a kitty. I take it your glass is half empty also. Thanks so much for your optimism. 6k for a crate motor that ain't bad, but i'll build my own LSX IF and when the time comes. I like Steppinwolfs words in Born To Be Wild, " Keep your motor runnin, head out on the highway."
