Cruise Control Stopped Working

There are probably a few things you can check with a multimeter. I'll look over the schematics tomorrow and give you my recommendations. My bet would be on the MF switch though since that is what recieves the most wear and tear.

Ok cool. I appreciate it!

I found an old post that you were involved in that said you had a CC problem w/ this truck before and it turned out to be the wheel speed sensors....

You don't think it could be related?

Hello, no i dont think it could be related because i fixed that problem. But maybe? I mean what was happening with that is cruise would just randomly shut off when i hit a bump. I replaced the pigtail and it worked ever since. This is different. It just wont turn on at all.

Just to give you an update, i bought a multi function switch off ebay that was supposedly fully tested and working and it did come with a return policy, and it didnt fix the problem. Still wont turn on. So i guess we will have to move on from it being the switch. I will try to get out this weekend and do those tests you told me to do. Also my truck has trailer brake controller. Could it be something with that?

Haven't forgotten about you....just been a little busy. I'll be in touch as soon as I can review those wiring diagrams again.

Is it still totally dead in the water or back to working intermittently?

Well actually it's probably best it's not working at all....I'll be in touch soon. I doubt it's the brake controller but you could always disconnect it to make sure.

Ever back probe a connector? It would be nice to see if you had 12V on connector C1 (16 pin connector), pin 14 (grey wire) of the throttle actuator control. That is the on signal to the TAC, thru the multifunction switch, originating at the cruise fuse in the underhood fuse panel. You might be able to check it with the plug off but you may also set some codes doing it. Several other functions run through that component. If you do it make sure the CC switch is on and the key is in the RUN position. If you boldly choose to go here then also check pin 6 (light blue wire) and make sure you have 0 here (brake switch signal). Keep me posted.

If I had the means to clear the codes I'd probably check it w/ the connector off.

You could also check pin 15 (black wire) to ground....make sure you've got continuity.

I have not back probed a connector. So where is this connector located. IN the dash where the multi funtion switch is or on the fuse box? I have an autocal. But its not the greatest for clearing codes.

It's under the hood, mounted on the driver's firewall....between the fender and the mastercylinder. Sorry i forgot that small detail.....lol. It may have 2 connectors attached to it also.

Sorry man. Its been a downpour of rain here and i dont have a shop. I just went out there and checked the plug. I just pulled it off and turned the key to the run position. I then checked the grey wire and had 0 Volts. Then I checked the blue wire and it had .01 volts. What should i do? Thanks
