Anyone here have Hawk rotors?

It's been 34000+ miles since I installed EBC slotted/dimpled rotors and Hawk performance pads. Overall, no issues. braking performance was good. No warping, unlike the stock GM rotors (1 panic stop = warped) :D

Looked the other day, and the rotors are rusted beyond recognition, except for the contact surface, pads are about done (not surprising --- it's about time for that).

Because of the incredibly bad looking EBC rotors and the sheer magnitude of the rust, I decided to get HAWK quiet slot rotors, to replace the EBCs, along with the Hawk pads again (liked those).

Anyone running those rotors? any input/opinions?

Nothing wrong with a little rust on your rotors. Just paint the non contact parts with some high temp paint. You shouldn't be needing new rotors after only 34,000 miles.

Well, intuitively I know you are correct in what yer sayin'....

but, dammmmmmnnnn those things look rough. I mean, it's not just a little rust, it's looking really bad. There's no evidence of any warping or degraded performance, or anything like that. But, I must say, I was a little shocked at the extent of the corrosion.

I remember when I removed the (warped) OEM rotors, they were a little brown and had some corrosion and stuff, but not like the EBCs are now. May be OK, as you say, but it's pretty hard on my old eyes seeing that. :dunno:

Take a wire wheel to the rotors to get the rust off, clean it up with some soapy water, then paint it a color you want. Can you throw a picture on here of how bad they look?

Which ECB's did you buy? The Yellow or Green stuff? I've heard nothing but good things about the Hawk breaks and rotors. Any reason you just don't go Hawk on both?

I sprayed the veins and hats on a set of Zimmerman rotors with Duplicolor high temp ceramic paint before installing on a BMW and they were rust free after 3 years (sold the car at that point.) If you paint before install, they won't rust.
