Recently the show Autoline After Hours did a really nice in depth feature about the small block V8. A link to the show is below. I found it to be really interesting. Go to 23:17 for the start of the small block feature. One of the subjects that was discussed was the "why" insofar as keeping the traditional block housed camshaft is concerned.

Good info in the video. I found out some new info on the 2014 6.2 in the trucks.
